Chiefs always going to win that. Highlanders a sorry state but good on them for sticking at it.

@ACT-Crusader least they kept them under 30
The DMac factor who seemed incessant in giving ball away or making poor choices

Paea made 2 tackles, missed 8
So powerful he was just blowing on them to allow others to make the tackle.
With stats like that he's a future player development coach. Doing all he can to develop his team mate's tackling

@ACT-Crusader when you consider the injury list the Landers have at the minute this is not a surprise that they are struggling even with a full strength team when they have everybody on board they are still the weakest of the 5 NZ Franchises
To be asking the question if this there worst Landers back 3 is quite disingenuous given their circumstancesThere was some good individual performances from the Landers but I thought it was more the Chiefs dropping their standards
Thought Dawai and Borgado were good and Nuggy excellent
De Groot good value as well
Highlanders are not my team ,but I for one won’t be putting the boot in -
Looks like Burns, Hunt, Parkinson and Ma'u are off to the sick bay. Add them to Nareki, Gilbert, Lowe and Tu'u out of our starting side. We don't have anywhere near the quality to deal with these injuries. Looks like Millar will need to start next week. No back up 10 available. Faleafaga might debut for the landers before Otago. It is all looking very grim.

Faleafaga
Keen to see him really, he's not going to be any worse than Hunt. Canes young tens coped alright.

Is this the worst Landers back three ever?
Considering the players we have fielded in the past. I'd say no. Not even in the last couple of years. Last year we put out a back three of coombes-Fabling at fullback and Denny Solomona and Paea on the wings. It was quite dire.

Feel for Dermody because from reports he has the nous to make it as a coach, but this season could be a write off already.

@SouthernMann Lowe was out due to the concussion protocols. If he's back next week, he'd be a better centre than Paea (if Timu is still injured).
-
@ACT-Crusader interestingly apart from losing Nuggy next year maybe a couple of others they could be the least effected team when the overseas exodus happens

Paea is a squad filler player. Way out of his depth at this level. Plenty would be better options. Lowe may be a strong option. Bogado and Dawai did some good things. Drop the worst in their positon for him to return. That is Paea. CGB to fullback.

PPP was very good before his injury. I hope it is not a serious one.
His profile could be suitable for rugby as it is played at international level. He is powerful and you can see that in the rucks and in the mauls where he made his presence felt. He seems to be a good scrummager as well. -

The Highlanders problem isn't a lack of firepower at all. They have firepower. They lack cohesion as a team both on attack and defence, and are too inaccurate.
What firepower? You have to be kidding me. They lack serious firepower compared to their opposition.

Roigard should be given the opportunity to start. His running game is looking as good as Weber's, his passing is better.
Agreed, looks to be the most suited to test level rugby out of the young halfbacks running around. Someone said on here that Roigard looks like a young Joost VW. Would be pretty stoked if he ended up as good as him.
Yeah but surely he was talking about Ratima

And I get accused of not paying attention...
Ratima might be better than both.
Don't think so. Pay attention.

I really though the Chiefs would put more points on this Highlanders team who currently remind me of the Force: Limited skills but if you don't make your initial dominance pay, drag you down.
Clever game plan. Getting in Chiefs faces and always falling or diving in way of Chiefs ball delivery at breakdown. Was surprised points kept that low regardless. Chiefs inside backs created so many opportunities but they could not recycle often enough to stretch the defence to the limit.
Burns played well. -

Ok yeah Roigard should be starting then. Canes might get a bit upset though, as might Weber and Ratima.

The conditions for goal kicking were more difficult than it may have looked on TV as the wind came and went, more like the Caketin at times.
After watching the replay this morning the Chiefs performance was a little better than I thought at the game. I did like the loose forward combo, but a pity Ah Kuoi moved into lock so early. Stevenson continues to impress on attack. Weber and DMac weren't always on the same page.
