I thought it was guys that weren't overt a-holes but you just can't like them
-
Cian Healy, Geordan Murphy, Trevor Ringland, Bradley Davies, Matt Dawson, Ali Williams, Richie McCaw, Schalk Burger, Michael Lynagh, Jim Beglin, Thierry Henry, Pakkie Bonner, Jamie Redknapp, Ronaldo, Freddie Flintoff, Andy Murray, Ma' Nonu, Jonny Sexton, Martin Johnson, John McEnroe, Willie John McBride, any racing driver, Sergio Parisse, George Gregan, to name a few

Back when I watched league - Geoff Toovey. Got nearly snapped in half at least once a game because he was the size of a 12 year old playing against men. Fucking commentators used to go in about his courage.

Tevita Li

That's his reputation. I can't confirm it not having been on the lash with him myself but a number of Brumbies fans have said it to me over the years.

He's a personality free zone. He'd rather sit by himself, expressionless, playing a poker machine than mixing briefly with fans - he just gives them the brush - or even mucking about with his team mates at the bar. I have seen that several times when he was with the Brumbies and Australia.

At the same time Jeremy Paul would launch into the get-absolutely-falling-down-drunk mode and be your bestest mate for the night, a harmless, big, affable drunk. Finnegan was a loud buffoon, especially on the turps; the capable Mark Bartholomeusz was a thoughtful bloke interested in the people who wanted to talk to him - a gentleman; Prince George was always, always, working the room sussing out opportunities for his post playing future - he would spend time with corporate fans only, who might be of commercial worth to him.
-

Shane Warne, Jamal Idris & Wendell Sailor.

Always thought Steve Waugh was a top bloke, but there is a certain section of the Aussie public that think he is aloof or whatever - also top drawer. Complete opposite for his twin.

Steve Waugh was measured, cautious, almost suspicious but a real professional. He had an authority which his players observed and accepted, obviously and readily - when he was ready to depart a function they would seem to know instinctively and follow suit. He was not unpleasant or self absorbed or aloof - just cautious.

Conversely, Jeff Thomson, who came from the same part of Sydney as the Waughs and Ian Thorpe and Mick, was back then and still is just like any one of your good chinas at the pub on a Friday night. Up for a yarn (about anything, not just cricket), a shout, a joke, another schooner - a happy fella.
-

I certainly don't go out of my way to watch golf but definitely admire anyone good enough to get to the top and I'd imagine a night on the piss with John Daly and Tiger Woods would be a hell of a good time.
