Just seen this item in One News highlighting the Campbell Jonstone story which was played on an English nework , only problem was , the graphic they used was Derrin Whitcombe ..talk about feel short changed ..
Anyone else see that item..? -
I think it’s google’s fault. If you search for Johnstone that’s one of the first photos that shows up. Whitcombe’s photo has been used all over the uk coverage in particular

Hmm. Google suggests it's just rumours and innuendo. Thought it was well known. Shouldn't presume.

To be honest I’d heard the same. The interweb isn’t always accurate though.

Well it’s been a few days now and I hope other sports sit up, pay attention to this news and take inspiration from it.
Any day now we should get a Soccer player coming out and saying he’s straight.
Perfect.
- Funny, 'cause soccer players are gay-as, right? (I did snigger)
- And... a perfect example of how entrenched so-called "homophobia" is - that we still imply it as a slur in a thread such as this
-
There would be a variety of reasons for any high profile sportsperson not wanting to publicly announce what they do in the bedroom. I'm not sure NZ "not being ready" for it is one of them. Now Qatar on the other hand.....

But is it implying a slur that being a soccer player is gay, or that being gay is as bad as being a soccer player? Cos one doesn’t work and the other clearly does.

For what it's worth, the percentage of female soccer players that are gay is far higher than that of the general population.
