Not sure how much you’re taking the piss but the jizz fest for the last 50 years does not match the quality of the try.

@Winger Wasn't that the game where protestors cut the cable and we all missed first bit? I seem to recall watching the game, but missed the try until later, just heard it?
They were protesting SA links etc I think. Someone with a better memory (or inertnet ability) may just be able to correct me.

I think that was a game against Wales when coverage was not established until late in the first half, or might have even been halftime. Then again it was so along ago the alzheimers memory might be rearing it's ugly head.

Penderyn Icons of Wales No 4 / That Try (70cl, 41%)

Penderyn Icons of Wales No 4 / That Try (70cl, 41%)

That Try is the fourth bottling in Penderyn’s Icons of Wales series, each of which celebrates Wales and its people throughout the world. Released in time for the Rugby World Cup 2015, it is a tribute to the greatest try ever scored in Welsh rugby history (aka 'That Try'), scored by Gareth Edwards...

@MN5 That was also a great one, absolutely no argument with it and don't really want to even say one was better, from diffeent eras , but still (like many other tries) really show the breathtaking skills/running etc that we all love in the game.

I don't drink whiskey (or any top shelf) but tempted to just buy a bottle anyway.

@MN5 I was on the terraces for that. You could see the try was on from the moment the French received the kick.

    That's part of the averageness

No one of reasons it was such a good game, it was played under the laws of the game as they were interpretated in 1973, not in 2023! So won't average at all!

See any of those who watched game know there was no lifting in lineout, jacklers etc etc. All great games of rugby are great because players play to laws of the day!

@antipodean sorry mate it was in reply to the so called averageness of game, because of the so called head highs.

They might have been acceptable in the day, but they're definitely not so called head highs.

Apart from Phil Bennet's pasadoble at the beginning, which is true magic, it's a pretty bog standard try.

@dogmeat understand what you saying dog, all I meant is exactly what you said, it was acceptable in the day, and that's when the game was played, in the day.
