RIP 2023

Listen to him elevate an otherwise forgettable song
I actually liked that song when it came out.
It’s like Roger Waters said to Dave Gilmour “Fuck you, I’ll get an even better guitarist to play with!”
I’m fairly sure his name was thrown about as a replacement for Syd Barrett back in the day. The Rolling Stones also tried to get him too.
He woulda worked in Floyd, certainly not in the Stones……

I remembered Beato did a video on him that I didn't get around to watching.
I’m wary of clogging up this thread too much but fuck me days he was a genius on the guitar. No two ways about it. The vid above explains it brilliantly.
….but was he “too” good ? Where was his rock anthem to do his amazing soloing on ?
I guess he left that to other favourites of mine like Blackmore, Page, Iommi, Gilmour etc. All slightly more “mortal” in their guitar slinging abilities…..but all of whom played to massive audiences he never really reached.

This is a bit niche, but professional wrestler Jay Briscoe died in car crash yesterday. The Briscoe's tag team match with FTR last year is widely considered the best match of the year. He was 38. Another car crossed the centre line and wiped out his pickup. Wear your fucking seatbelts folks.

I haven’t followed wrestling for about 25 years or so, since the steroid scandal broke there just hasn’t been the ridiculous behemoths to keep it interesting enough. This guys name has popped up on numerous FB groups I’m in.
RIP, he had some moves

Made for a great sample too:
1st release from our debut album. An original piece that uses a replayed vocal of David Crosby's 'Orleans'. Drums recorded live at Toerag studios. Also featuring a 17 piece orchestra recorded at Air Studios, London. Many thanks to David Crosby for giving us permission to rework the vocal sample. The original track 'Orleans' comes from his album 'If Only I Could Remember My Name'.
