GOT - there will be spoilers

He may help out, but I think his story is done. Helping out Jon etc may well happen.

I thought Jon Snow's parents was sorted now? He's half Stark / Half Targareyn, no?

We know who his parents are but no one in Westeros do ( except Bran, Howland Reed)
His birth won't be recorded but there's a chance Rhagaer and Lyana secretly married. That could be in there

Plus Sam needs to update them with Castle Black! -
As Virgil mentions, I think Sam will play a very big role. There must very good reasons for him being in Oldtown and nicking his dad's sword.

Agreed M4L, an absolutely smashing end to what had been up until then, a seemlingly fairly average season. But when viewed together it is definitely a season where the whole is greater than the sum of the parts.

Those earlier episodes, whilst often boardering on the mundane and were frustrating by the pacing and seeming lack of progress, in actuality set up the extrordinary last two episdoes to make it truly a fantastic season.

I got home last night, being Monday and normally I'm chomping at the bit to sit down and watch GoT, and suffered mild depression that the season is actually over and we are all going to have to wait 3/4 of a year before we get our next fix.

So with two seasons to go

Season 7

The battle for the Iron Throne

Queen Cersei and whatever support she might have left versus Dany, and the combined might of High Garden and Dorne

Obviously Jon Snow will chose a side and that will most likely be alongside Dany as it is revealed he is half Stark, half Targaryen and will naturally support his cousin(?).

Arya the assasin will make her way through her list and maybe remove Cersei herself meaning a war for the IT is not required, or will she be reunited with Jon and Sansa first rather than going on a killing spree?

No doubt, a significant subplot will be the rise of Night's King and the Others, in particular chasing Bran through the wall and into the Stark lands and the lower part of Westeros.

The one thing that will shit me is if Bran actually does cross the wall knowning that by doing so, he will compromise the magic spells that have been woven into the wall and allow the Others and their un-dead army to pass the one barrier that stops them from crossing into the southern lands.

Season 8

The final battle for Westeros

Dany, Jon, Bran, etc versus the Night's King and the rest of the Others and their undead army

Dragons taking on the undead with fire. We know that wights must be burned but we don't know the effect of fire on one of the Others.

The good guys need to gather as much Valaryian steel and dragon glass as they can find.

For me, GRRM had better get this next book out by then. He's released a number of chapters, which I have refused to read but as yet, no release date has been set for the Winds of Winter.
-

Does anybody else suspec tthat GRRM hasn't released as the books are going to go in a different direction to the tv series?

TV on the whole, and none more so than in American TV, does not all the bad guy to "win".

Yet GRRM has never really been bothered about that.

It wouldn't surprise me to see Jon Snow or Danaerys to win on the TV show, but the white walkers to win in the books.
-
Yeah wouldn't surprise me, the tv is less likely to have a bad guy win then the books
Speaking of which, have finally gotten back into them. Nearly finished A Feast for Crows, funnily enough just read the chapter where Jamie is involved in the Riverrun siege( treated like a bitch by Blackfish) The Sparrows have yet to take over Kings Landing etc.

Have enjoyed checking out a lot of the back history on Westeros and Essos, plenty of great YouTube channels that delve into all things GOT -

dunno, GRRRRRM has been heavily involved in the TV stuff, and I believe he will have them using some of his alternative storylines while the books will follow their own path (that will be fairly similr but with some differences I reckon) to give readers something extra.

-

I doubt the final outcome will be different in the books but the path there now appears to be vastly different. For instance, it wouldn't surprise me if Stannis survives a lot longer and I suspect Brienne won't be much of force any more. Theon is also toast. And the mighty Blackish is still alive!!!!

I think the wildcard in both the series and books is Euron. In the book he has some kind of Dragon horn. If he can use that to control or summon dragons then that would be a massive game changer. That prick has travelled far and wide and has obviously learnt some interesting shit.
-

but not enough to kill the spawn of the King you just killed as you try to usurp his throne as well ;)
-

Agree, yeah just read Briennes last chapter and she got the shit kicked out of her, broken arm etc plus I know she has worse coming up
But in the tv show she's very popular, no doubt her arc will be more positive. -

We were talking about this at work and came to the conclusion that option c will occur i.e. all main contenders for the iron throne die and that dude who is still rowing (the bastard son of Robert Baratheon) is made King.

We also predicted that next season Dragon Tits will seize the iron throne from Cersei Lannister, who will accidentally die at the hands of Jamie or Tyrion, and will become a deranged leader like her old man leading to Jon Snow having to fight her for the House of Dragon Tits.
-

final season trailer...
-
@Virgil said in GOT - there will be spoilers!:
Season 7 premier date has been announced..
16 July , that's the US date.Previously it's started airing in late March early April.
But now that winter has finally come they chose to delay filming.More importantly, when is that fat prick going to release the bloody book? It's gone 6 years now.
-
@Rancid-Schnitzel I'm wary of the next book. The last one was pretty fucking ordinary, and the TV shows have sort of picked up the story and run with it now. After a long delay, i can feel a disappointment coming on.
-
@mariner4life given GRRRRR has been involved with the series all along, you'd say he has told them how he will end the books (and then by the time he gets to writing he will probably have forgotten and go another way anyway) so the series will no doubt end with all the characters you like being killed.

So long as no-ne kills that little smurf, all will be OK
