Those sports stars you just can't warm to

Also disliked Colin Montgomerie in his day too, sad sack looking m/f

Yeah third the hate for Mickelson, he's mine too. Supposedly a really nice bloke, the all-American smile, etc, but I can never warm to him and find myself taking a lot of joy in his failures.

I hate most American golfers, actually. Only ones I like are Speith, DJ, Kuchar. Rest can all go and get fucked.
-

I also like Brandt Snedeker. Love his attitude towards slow play!
-
Cameron Smith - excellent league player and seems to be a good guy off the field from all those I know close to the Storm organisation, but I just can't stand him when he plays. Maybe it's the way he's hyped and then is a grub out on the field.

Mark Worthington - NBL player

John Eales - I was a fan of Burke and Gregan, but this guy just irritated me with his interviews and sour looks on his face. Perhaps it was the whole Qld, Brothers, Marist thing that I couldn't stand....

Marion Jones - before the drug scandal. She was the darling of track, I couldn't stand her and I was a great fan of the US track team, even the arrogant ones! -

I fucking hated Wortho before. But not so much now...

In keeping with the theme of the thread, in the NBL it's the non-entities i hate for some reason. Schenscher, Wagstaff etc

Eales is the Aus equivalent of McCaw, great player, no personality. And played for the wrong teams.
-

This may come as a shock, but based on his public persona I find Pocock to be an insufferable twat.

And it may be heretical for someone from Crosby Park to suggest it, but John Eales has the personality of roadkill. Nice guy but after 30 seconds you're looking for anyone else to chat to.

I find tennis boring so anyone who looks like they're enjoying themselves I'll prefer, but Tomic and Kyrgios could save a bus full of orphans on their way to adopt puppies and kittens from the pound and I'd still hate them. A mate's son went to school with Nick and says he was a fluffybunny back then too.

Lewis Hamilton - I don't know why, I just want anyone else to win.

And any American that believes making noise and shameless self promotion is a substitute for talent.
-

Obviously this is different to hating on say Gregan cos he was so damn good.

But I think time is a factor there - how did you feel about him after "Four more years, boys!" for example? :)

Once an opposing great retires I think we learn to appreciate their game more. No doubt Gregan was one of our greatest ever halfbacks, but there were still two seasons where Chris Whitaker was the best 9 in Australia and still got shafted.
-

Serena Williams. Never liked her, never will. Was a big fan of Venus though.

Shane Warne. Is just a classic bogan, who was fucking excellent at cricket.

Woodward. Did meet him, he was a prat, which was in some ways, good to discover.

Jamie Roberts. Was easily my favourite NH rugby player, but then he openly cheered for Australia in the WC final, so he can get fucked. :)

I quite like Lewis Hamilton, he was bit over hyped to begin with, but I absolutely love watching him race, he gives it his all and isn't afraid to take risks where others wouldn't. And ultimately thats what it should be about. Having Justin Bieber by the podium for his Monaco win this year took him down a peg in my view though.

I used to dislike will Greenwood too when he played, but he's a great commentator, and I've come round to him.
-

Woodward. Another glaring omission from me.

Can't believe anyone could dislike Will Greenwood though, in a bunch of ever increasing midfield monsters he was an inspiration to skinny white guys everywhere.
-

Kyrgios is a massive, massive tool. And what makes it worse is he acts like that, but he quits as soon as it gets tough. And what makes it even worse is he knows he does it, openly admits to it, and can't be fucked correcting it. So he would rather mouth off at officials and journos, then try and develop the mental game to compete. He doesn't want a coach, because some weeks he can't be fucked with tennis, and no coach is going to want to put up with that.

His presser this morning after getting humped by Murray was very honest, but it won't change his attitude.
-

Steph Curry

-

Shooter McGavin was a smarmy twat

-

Ernie "Big Ern" McCracken

I think quite alot of you have missed the original point of this thread. It was basically sportspeople you hate despite them not having done anything controversial or twatish on or off the field. Plenty of those mentioned have been prize piston wristed gibbons both on and off the field/court/track etc.

Tim Horan's always irritated me for some reason. And that ex-league player Paul Harragon. Probably because he was the unfunniest, least charismatic person to ever appear on TV. -
Oh yeah, Thierry Dusetois (apologies for spelling). He's an awesome player and could very well be a top bloke, but that Gaelic stare make him look like some of his more arrogant countrymen after they've been told that they were served English wine.

He's just a Frenchman, they all pretend they don't speak English but they do. They prefer you to make an arse out of yourself trying to ask for directions and where the nearest bar is in your best broken 5th form French.
-

Jamie Soward, Braith Anasta, Lleyton Hewitt, Shane Warne and Matthew Hayden just off the top of my head.
