@Kiwiwomble It was clear from the start that McLennan's threats to leave the comp was just a load of hot air. Not surprised the comp will continue.

    This is interesting:

The confirmation of the current Super Rugby Pacific format – with the eight-team finals format – will disappoint some fans and will be seen as a win for Australia, which has generally struggled with player depth.

However, Marinos said there would be rule changes in Super Rugby Pacific to make the game more appealing.

“RA and NZ Rugby are committed to the development of the most exciting form of rugby in the world, through trialling and implementing new rules, new ways of engaging fans and broadcast innovations with our partners,” he said in a statement.

Hopefully, those rule changes do not include the same stupid "sin-bin power-play" rule that the RFU is proposing for the new Premiership and Championship Cup competition (or similar nonsense).

I really hope it is not what they are alluding to,What a stupid idea that is.

Good lord. That's marketing creatives personified, completely detached from the sport. Far out

i'll say it now, i fully expect to see a "max zone", under the posts maybe, where tries are worth double

They could try reducing how long a team can be in possession and up the power play sin bin to two players. Also make a try worth one less point in the power play.

@Bones maybe asking to swap a player at half time would work too.

I mean then teams could get real tactical and pick someone shit, then at halftime give him to the opposition.

I reckon a 3 second rule. Ball must be played in the open after every 3 seconds.
    3 to complete a scrum, 3 to complete a ruck/tackle, 3 to complete a maul etc

@Crucial but is the ball safe to eat if you drop it on the floor for more than 3 seconds?

I'd be interested to know who else is with the Chiefs as there are plenty of options at loose forward without having to look outside the area.

Yep, staggered by that. Who misses out from McCurran, Lasaqa, Norris, Brash, Burr and Reuben?

The competition is too short. Should be a "home and away" format with shorter finals series.

looks like a great location, dont know what kind of numbers the raiders get but 30k seems to be the sweet spot for these kinds of venues

Unlikely. The government isn't a huge fan of sport and wants to spend cash on the tram. This has been discussed for years and gone nowhere and the current Chief Minister thinks sinking more money into the shithole known as Bruce Stadium is a better idea. That alone speaks volumes. Everyone who has ever gone out there knows it's unsuitable. There's no supporting infrastructure and it's fucking shit: No pubs or restaurants nearby. Shitty bus service back into the city.

You forgot to mention that it sucks in every bit of cold wind that exists in Australia.

That proposed location would be excellent if backed by good public transport.
