I asked him in which position he was playing and the coach told me he was in the front row. "That's where I want to see him" I said and watched for a while.
"We have two Springboks here, that prop and his hooker," I said afterwards. Those two were Piet du Toit and Abie Malan, and together they went - all the way from under-19 to the Springbok team.
Piet "Spiere" du Toit was one of the strongest men to represent the Springboks in the front row. He did not look all that strong but, by gad, he was incredible."
Hempies du Toit toured in 1981. Also a strong TH.

It's serves as a reminder that it's not our fault that we didn't have the physical gifts to represent our respective countries.
It's the fault of our useless fucking grandparents, we never stood a chance!

@Catogrande the 1981 Boks to NZ have great rugby genes. Producing Boks like Schalk Burger, FvdMerwe, Andries Bekker, Ruaan Pienaar and Claasen son playing for France.

Go look at 15s into that clip and how Green 14 moves directly toward the receiver, then moves out of the line, right into the path of the defender.
Have seen more innocent attempts penalised.
I think it was a brilliant line because it was just barely enough to hinder the would-be tackler while not enough for most refs to penalise. Weak defence by that lesbian in the English 10 shirt, mind

Agreed. A very clever line and I didn't notice that at all at the time. Steward really should have made something of that to bring it to the ref's notice, no point in waving your arms about afterwards.
A bit unfair on Smith's defence. He's not the first to be turned inside out by a full speed Allendse and I'll bet he won't be the last.
