What is the deal with Chapman? I can't ever recall him making a big score as a black cap, I just don't rate him at all

Average of 25 striking at 140 for NZ so not too bad:

but no MOTM innings like Phillips has played yet which could be down to lack of opportunity.

I'd rather we give him more of a chance than let Williamson continue to bog down our batting.

Might be an issue with opportunity. Might as well try him, we don't learn anything persisting with Kane
