All Blacks v England

at least we don't need to wait around for the team naming, we're back to the top 23 picks itself.
only real call is at 11.

Which locks start? Coverage today said Retallick would be back, but I think Barrett has been our best lock this year.
But I agree (...ish) 21-22 of the squad are already penned in.

if i am picking the team, the ones that started today, with Retallick on the bench. Frizzle Fry at 6, probably AI on the bench as well.
If our backline actually does something for the first time all tour i expect us to win well given the form of our best forwards.

All three top locks will start. I'm sure that SB will be at 6.
I haven't read the Scotland match thread yet but Christie has played his way out of the 23, while Telea has played his way in.
Jordie's lack of pace at fullback was noticeable, but he has to go back to 2nd 5.

perhaps you have read the Scotland thread lol..I think you could be on the money, definitely JB at 12 and I think Talea may have forced his way in too.
If SB not at 6 it will be Frizell I think from what they will be looking for.

Talea
I may be set for a whinge of Messum and Reid like proportions... unless I'm missing the joke?
-
@bayimports yea that's the interesting call, do we go Whitelock, Retallick & SB at 6. Or Frizell at 6.
I think I want to see Barrett there.

Reiko will be starting so no need to worry.

But he'll be outside Jodie

I thought SF was solid, which was a very pleasing attribute at the time he came on.

I'm very happy we aren't playing France. No way do we look ready.

why? France, playing at home, have fallen over the line in their last 2 games against sides we would easily be able to argue we are better than.

Scooter to 6 for me
Reece and Telea -

Dude, we'll smash England. Last game was the shit game, Foster's ABs alternate OK/good and shit. England are similar and played well vs Japan. The stars are aligning!
Shame to win a RWC you need 3 good ones in a row

Maybe we'd be competitive but they look super tough to me (S Africa played super amped and still lost) and I am still getting over that near loss to Scotland. Summary: maybe the ABs would be ok but I don't think my heart is up to it.

you may be right. Hopefully Eddie tries to goad the ABs and it motivates them.
But France still look damn good. Not as good without Dupont though. -

Even in 2015 we struggled against SA and didn't play well - just did enough.
2011 was the final... we really went into our shells after a few things didn't go our way.
2007 .... arguable about how well we played against the frogs, but we certainly went to pieces mentally.
Frankly, a lot of RWC is the draw. Look at SA 2007: Fiji Argentina England to win the thing...

It’s been a bang average year. Hopefully the ABs can ride off into the sunset to the sound of a forlorn, halfhearted, feeble Swing Low having beaten England out the gate.
Selecting needs to be much better in 2023. Year is basically summed up by Karl T and PGS.
