Although I'll put forward the suggestion that ST and Taylor swap roles. Feel we'll get more from his impact against less structured defences.
I'm ready for the counter arguments. But I disagree.
I also feel my suggestion was kind of supported by performances on Saturday.
my counter to that would be that Sami is about the only forward getting over the advantage line when he carries.. you need that from the start, not just the last 20
I get that. Love him as much as everyone else on here.
But he wasn't effective starting on Saturday.
Not saying I'm unhappy with him starting, but would give serious consideration to swapping the hookers.
Really? He went forward with his balling running as he always does. Retallick's try came from Samisoni busting the defence and then putting BBBR away with the final pass.
The lineout certainly wasn't operating at 100% but to me the throws looked ok to me - looked more like issues with reception by the jumpers.
He's our best hooker by a country mile - need him playing 50-60 minutes in big tests. He's shown in multiple tests he is an effective starter. Suddenly benching him based on one outing vs Japan when he wasn't even that bad feels like over-thinking it.
100%.

Sami’s throws were off in Saturday. Lucky BBBR try wasn’t cancelled for crooked throw. Even TJ noticed that and a second one, later in first H, I think.
Don't believe a word of what the commentators say with regard to decisions. They spent ages trying to convince everyone about a forward pass that wasn't because they only looked at the passer's body and not his arm/hand.
The refs on the board can probably confirm this but 'crooked' throws aren't necessarily a problem unless the catcher reaches to the outside of the line to catch. Can't believe no one looked at it. Look at the shade of the grass. The pass is released on or beyond the shade change and taken behind. For all the tech Japan is supposed to be renowned for, camera work and computers they are so far behind in.

Why is our best frickin hooker on the frickin bench? Mr Codie “I can’t throw straight under pressure” Taylor starts instead? FFS I can’t wait to see the back of Foster and his stooopid selections.
Frizell I can accept given Akira provides impact off bench. How much more impact would’ve have been to start with Akira and have Sotutu providing impact?
um apart from the classic debate at 6 and our best hooker on the bench that isn't a bad side! Less convinced the bench is exciting, but they're not insane choices.

@Chris-B o would prefer a fullback who is an actual attacking threat from fullback
JB is very much a defensive fullback. I miss Mils
But yeah I really miss Cully
Mils was a more complete fullback. Great alround skilz. I'll go one further, Bender was better than both.

@TheMojoman Hence, Samisoni is there for the business end.

Makes sense to me as Sami can't start every game. Managing workload and all that.

Taylor didn't play poorly in his last start at all, in a very good team performance at Eden Park. And I think it's good to manage resources honestly. Especially as it should be a fast, flowing game under the roof at Millennium which could suit Taylor. Taukeiaho's power game will be more useful later in the tour.
It's a very strong team.
I'm confident of getting good results this tour but still gotta get lucky with injuries (and judiciary).

That was my thought, it’s just a concern the gap between him and the rest has become so big,
Good team otherwise

We seem to have options in pretty much all positions which, if not perfect, at least don't make you hide behind the sofa.

This could be a Ryan selection. His default choice for hooker is someone from Canterbury.
I knew that Frizell would be picked. Christie pays for his 'mare against Japan.
I just hope that Foster and co are proactive with their substitutes and yank players if they aren't doing the job.

Anyone being a better fullback than Cully does not compute in my simple brain, sorry.

Reckon Samisoni is on the bench in the Malcolm Marx role and we might see him after 30 mins if Codie isn’t firing. If Codie goes well then leaves him fresher to cause havoc.
Ridiculous idea. Should never even be suggested.

He was the find of the S Africa tourBut on the other wing Caleb Clarke will need to bring his A game lining up in front of Rees-Zammit, especially on defence.

Apparently that's utter rubbish, and sacrilegious.

Omen?
The thought of Barnes in Cardiff in 2007 makes my blood boil. The French committed offence after offence after offence at the breakdown in the last 15 minutes of game. And Barnes forgot to whistle any of them.
The thought of John Dewar Dallas in Cardiff in 1905 makes my blood boil over. The Originals had won every other game on that tour. Bob Deans scored a fair try. The Welsh moved the ball and conned the ref. Unforgivable.
Never forget!
