Hastings Boys’ High School are delighted to announce the appointment of Mr Jason Shoemark as the Director of Rugby and 1st XV Rugby co-coach for 2023.
As the current Hawke’s Bay Rugby Player Development Manager, Jason brings with him an extensive wealth of knowledge and experience to the role. He has also represented the Highlanders and the Blues at super rugby level and has coached Hurricanes age grade representative teams.
Headmaster Mr Rob Sturch has said that “Jason will be a great addition to an already strong coaching team, and will provide pivotal support as we push for top honours in 2023.”
As a former magpie captain, Jason will also join former magpies Mr Karl Lowe, Mr Sona Taumalolo and Mr Jason Bird as part of the coaching and management team. -
lindisfarnecollege The College would like to welcome Andrew Horrell as part of the 1st XV rugby coaching team for 2023. Andrew will work alongside co-coach Old Boy Laurent Simutoga and trainer/ manager Emma Akeripa. Andrew grew up on a deer farm in Canterbury attending Christchurch Boys’ High School and has played for the Hawkes Bay Magpies, Chiefs and was contracted with the Coca-Cola Red Sparks in Japan. Andrew is currently living in Puketapu and works for the Hawkes Bay Regional Council in water quality as an ecological technician.

I don't recognise many names in that line-up. Partially, that is because it's a new team which seems to have lost a lot of players who have left school, and partially because HBHS didn't post any line-ups last year, so I don't what were the younger players in 2022.
Kyan Lowe is Karl Lowe's eldest son; Daniel Toala is Danny Toala's younger brother; Monte Timu used to go to Lindisfarne and is a younger brother of Star Timu. Some other names are vaguely familiar.
