Since that article he has managed another 3kg according to Saders website but he looks to have bulked up a bit this year to my eyes.

@Crucial Yeah - Scott will be all of 120kgs these days.
Mainly posted to give some idea of the necessary dimensions to play lock. Fifita considered too light at 113kgs.
Frizell and Kaino both heavier than that and pretty obvious just looking at them.

I think Fifita saying he didn’t like the hard work required to play lock was probably an issue too.
Sigh, looks like James Blackwells AB career is over before it even starts.
Barrett is definitely more “stocky” than Whitelock and Retallick ( if someone who is about 6’ 6” can be described as stocky that is )

@MN5 That comment probably helps explain why he's not there at all. Though, apparently they got him to 116kgs and still wanted him at blindside.
But, if people are seriously wandering around thinking Frizell is only 108kgs it's no wonder they don't understand why he (and Scott) are getting picked at 6!!!

I think he’d be about that ( never having seen him in the flesh I could be wrong of course )

after looking better than both Ioane and Sotutu throughout Super Rugby
This is a myth. Grace was off the pace early in Super Rugby and then got better with a few prominent games near the end of the season. Even in his big games in the finals he wasn't prefect and had a fairly high misses tackle count. He carried on his end of season good form for the Maori. But it's easy to see why he wasn't selected in the initial AB squad, he wasn't an incumbent from most of last season and had an average Super campaign with a good ending.
Saying he was better than Sotutu is just bollocks. If we're looking at Super campaigns then MMT probably had the best form over the season.

Injuries seem to increase a players reputation by about 200% judging from what I read on the fern

I don 't think he fits that criteria.

Agree. Hard to tell if he was timing his run a bit late or had a couple of good games.
We often see stand outs early in the season and others that pick up toward the pointy end.
Playing well early on to get noticed then struggling through the rest of the year with the edge taken off is quite common. You mentioned MMT and I would put him in that category. Might even throw Nankivell in there as well. Was in great form and looking like a contender for a while but by the time the Maori AB games came around he looked burned out. B Sullivan had golden touches early that turned to ugly ones as well.
I guess that the selectors are used to seeing all of this and pick accordingly although they took a gamble with PGS who was already sliding when he got a black jersey. -

15Provided those three can all get on the park at once next it really doesn’t matter who the other 12 are, the cup is as good as ours.
Rough on the three blokes who’ve all had brothers play for the ABs but the fern reputation can’t be wrong in this case.

I wouldn't be using Wiki for any reliable source of weights and heights. The official AB site would be a better source, although may not be entirely accurate either.
Same stats
But you're telling us Blackadder is much taller than his "official" stats.
That just makes it worse if true. Being a big flanker and playing like a small flanker isn't exactly an endearing factor.

His Dad played against Richard Metcalfe who was 7 foot.
Thank the lord it was only Scotland.

Nah. Haven't gotten around to players that beat defenders yet...
