@Tim Great effort, Taylor actually fucked up there and Akira cleaned up, I also think it was Smith instructing Akira to get over there.
Yep, Smith and Akira working well together there. Akira was watching Wilson's (very clever) path too, and Smith made the call to cover.
Good shoulder there from Akira....

@chimoaus I thought Taylor was covering Valetini which you could’ve expected someone like him to take a pick and go from that close.
Looked to me like Codie was the post at that ruck - if he moved to cover Wilson, you'd have him and McLeod shot at dawn.

Yep I'm wrong on that one, looked like he had Valentini covered.

Taylor line out watch, after being called out for having preconceptions. Back home for my first watch of the game on TV.
- Throw too low, Ozzie disputed easily as it wasn't at the top height of ABs jumper, ABs retained but under pressure. Killed move dead.
- Throw miles over Ozzie side, whitelock really had to reach, so move to Ardie was not ideal. Should've been turn over to Oz, but ref let it go? ABs should've mauled anyway, one man up, but poor throw meant move was wasted
- Managed an accurate throw to the front. 1/3 good throws so far, stats show 3/3
- Throw short, after he stepped off the mark, lucky not to get penalised (I think he is later). But Ozzie take it anyway. 1/4 for Taylor
- Line out 9 out, good throw, but easy as Oz didn't complete. Penalty try! 2/5
- Free kicked for moving of the mark. Again, Taylor fucking sucks 2/6 Nice run and pass after, but his shit at line out was why they were down in their own half
- Good throw, easily taken. 3/7
- Choose to the line. Not competed, but not straight. Fucking Taylor 3/8 shiiiiiite
- 5m not competed, good throw, great maul, try Taylor. 4/9 Bullshit about his form, less than 50% decent throws, is not back to good form
And then changed. I totally disagree he was any good, cos he can't do his core role. Yes he did some metres, but only in the open. Samisoni makes metres in the tight, much more important. Taylor is not a patch on samisoni, and Coles is still a better option as he can actually do a decent lineout throw most of the time
Note Samu, a loose forward, was far far better at line out throws, 100%. In fact Samu was fucking super man for Oz
And I missed whiny Smith getting told off by the ref, so good. You could easily hear him at the ground, little screamer. Then Dr robotnik getting the same after the crying game tease, even better.
And mounga mom was ridiculous. Often he was in two minds and delayed for momentum killed. First try against was off a crap kick partially charged

Loved that both Smith and White got told to shut it. Cripes they go on!

Loved de Groot giving White the crying face too. If he doesn't like it he knows where to find him 😎

Yeah didn't get either at the game, loved it on TV watch!

It was Retallick that took that one clean and if we wanted to maul he could’ve come down and set it. We didn’t set up for the maul though and Ardie took the pass uncontested from Retallick, and probably as planned. What happened after that was where it fell over.
He didn’t have a great throwing night but you can’t blame him for that one.

I think Wilson will be looking for someone else to run full steam at in future too.

Read what I said, correct decision would have been to maul. But they didn't, the timing was totally thrown out by the fact is was so far on Ozzie side. Maybe the move would've worked if the throw had been even close to straight? But either way it was a shit throw that should've been called not straight by the ref. Taylors fault, even if the ref didn't cal the not straight and the lineout call was srong IMO.

I love Wilson's physicality and don't mind once in a while he winds up and just runs into people. But in general play Holloway's run was superb and much more effective, maybe exposed a technique issue with DeGroot.
On DeGroot, love his physicality and abrasive nature but he looked like he ran out of puff barely 45-50mins into the game? I know frontrowers are only expected to go 50mins max these days but boy if there are injuries and he has to stay on the 80mins he'll be in troubble.

Holloway took the outside line on EDG into space. Wilson had Ardie covering that space. Not like EDG pulled off that hit by himself.

@NTA Wilson does have a tendancy to run straight lines though, as opposed to angles / footwork etc.
From earlier this year.
“My footwork that he (Rennie) wants me to work on is not just an overnight fix,” Wilson said. “I’ve made improvement, which he’s noted, but he’s also wants to see more growth."

True, but in that case he was against a set defensive line so had to rely on winding up.
Holloway got a bit of a break there as Whitelock stayed out on his man, and EDG wasn't quick enough laterally.
