Blimey. This is a terrible look for one of my fave NH players of that era.
-
I’ll admit that news surprised me. Alfie always seemed to me to be a pretty straightforward sort of guy. Of course, worth noting that this is just an accusation currently.

Problem for Alfie is that he has moved into the celebrity life now, so this type of accusation won't be abnormal. I hope for his sake that it is a baseless accusation as he could be in deep trouble if not.

Alfie’s defence team have provided their replies to the accusations and from what I’ve seen it is not a good look from Alfie. Did not tell his partner of his HIV status as A) He didn’t think he could pass it on and B )his partner was promiscuous and had a fatalistic attitude to catching HIV.

@Bones Good player. Sad to read that, but glad it's near the end of his career and not at the beginning.
I wonder whether he'll still be able/willing to take up a contract outside France? I obviously don't know what the medical issue is that lead to this decision from the French Union's medical committee, and whether he really should retire, but other countries may not be so strict?
And I also remember when they took a similar decision forbidding Sona Taumalolo to continue playing in France. He appealed and was allowed to play again, because they got it wrong.

Yeah, I read this too. Really poor attitude from Alfie. I've noticed that he's gone for the victim card too by saying that he's had to face some horrible comments from people. If that's the worst he gets, he should feel lucky. I don't expect to see him back on the TV anytime soon.

Curious. When did they first identify the issue? Some reports say that they knew he had the issue for some time and the club and FFR doctors were monitoring it.

Liam Williams gets crushing news as year wiped out by significant injury.
Pity he won't face the AB's, he is quality and good to watch. -

Fuck
He reminds me of a Bumblebee in that when you look at a Bee, in theory it can't fly but by the fuck it actually flies very well. When you look at Williams and think I can drive a bus through those bandy legs, he can't possibly run and then...

@stodders from another article:
“He must stop his career in France for cardiological reasons. A cardiac anomaly had been detected before the 2019 World Cup in Japan. This anomaly, which is not linked to rugby, has been monitored but it is an evolving pathology. The risk has become too great.”
