Bugger.
Apikotoa's yellow has cost us the Shield.
Not much separating the teams, but the team with the best decision-making won the game.
Should have stopped going for line-outs when they didn't work.
Congrats Wellington. Keep it until we meet you next year in Wellington.
Now I'm going to sulk.

Well done Wellington at least we lost to a team that performed well.
Certain team's I hate losing too because of rivalries with mates who are from there. I don't have any with Wellington, mainly because I don't know their four supporters personally. #sourgrapes

Standout for me was Peter Lakai. That kid is built different.
He had a great game. But he's class every week I've seen him start for Wellington. He's better than (or at least as good as) Savea at the same age. Future AB. Maybe as a 7.

(except for the missed penalty).
That was pretty fucking bad! Doing Foley level delaying, and then fucking it up!
Agree. But he got all the rest over and always takes some time before he kicks. An area that was a weakness during SRP and starting this years NPC. And overall his line kicking was much better than it has been. So I can take one miss that didn't cost us the game

Amazing Shield run by the Magpies. Good intense game and I’m a happy that a maul try didn’t end the game….
Thought Perenara was very influential. the odd mistake aside I thought he was doing a hell of a lot to keep the Lions in the game and win it.
Nothing like a Shield change.

Savea also had an excellent game. I didn't think he'd have anything left when he came back. But he was very busy tonight

Congrats to HB on an awesome run of consecutive shield defences. When was the last time a team got to 15(?) on the trot? Feels like ages.
Best part of the game was the midget dominating the last lineout to seal the win.
In what I thought was really stretching at records, an article pointed out that 15 was games was second best ever, oh equal second best ever, nope equal second best ever, this century

Haven't read the thread, and only kept a passing eye on the highlights on Stan, but ...
... thought TJ did his best to lose that at the end.
Firstly, play the advantage out, it will always come back to the penalty.
Secondly, don't get yourself, as skipper, sin binned with time up.

It was a bollocks call, he was airborne when he hit the guys arm, and came from behind the ruck - perfectly legal. Other times that would be a great turn over

Just to clarify, my first point was not playing out the advantage on attack for the kick that missed. Why not play it out?

I agree with that, dumb. But his card was incorrect - so he didn't get himself sin binned, the ref fucked up IMO.
