England to whitewash Australia

Didn't see that coming- thought Cifford would start as he came off the bench last week. I really don't know much about Harrison. I'm hoping he's more of an out and out fetcher as it would make a refreshing change to see how we play with one!

He just spent half a season playing 8 for Norths. "Abrasive" would be the phrase I'd use to describe his play. I don't actually think England have brought an out & out fetcher in the squad, Ksevic is with the Saxons & that young Welsh bloke is at home
-

Yeah, he's another 6.5/can play 8 from what I've seen. However Percentage Eddie seems to have got the three big lumps in the backrow strategy working OK so maybe this is all part of his cunning plan to change how rugby is played.

-
Why fetch when you've got no intention to attack the ruck?

Eddie is using what he's got - in 2003 he used two openside flankers because they were better than the other options.

Now he's decided to just tackle the fuck out of everything because that is what this crop of blokes does best. -

Not a lot of controversy in that squad. Let's hope we can finish the job properly. Some possession would be nice.

Would make for a prettier game to watch.

I'm still flummoxed by the selection for the Wallabies. Genuinely can't see how the changes address the astonishing incompetence of last week.
-

Helps that he has Itoje too who is one of the most, if not the most mobile locks around. That boy is a legend in the making. They are virtually playing 3 6's & Billy. And then Launchbury & Lawes on the bench could easily play 6 in test rugby (Lawes has). England have a genuine claim to 4 or 5 of the top 10 locks in world rugby right now.

Its not entirely dissimilar to the tactic the ABs used in the second half of the WC games bringing on Vito & playing Read as a lock. Might be a pointer to later in the season for us if we bring Ardie or Dixon on as a blindside & move Kaino to lock.
-

Going for the whitewash.

Be nice to see Clifford and Daly have some quality game time.
-

Being fait to Goode, his form for Sarries has been very good but he seems to me to be one of those guys that can't quite take the step up. I would be very reluctant to drop Brown for Goode just on a drop in form over a couple of games or so.

Wallabies need to play Brumbies-ball in close to suck in the English forwards and Nick Phipps....have a friggen go ya knob!!!!!! I think we have seen the Wallabies can't play the Poms at their own game. They have been physically dominated and outsmarted. This has been sad to see cos the strength of the Wallabies has always been outsmarting the opposition. They constantly beat the Boks cos they are smart, They beat the pre-McCaw/Carter mob cos they were smart. They have been dumb this series. One half of me is rejoicing the dumbing down of Wallaby rugby, but the love of the game half thinks it is tragic. C'mon ya obnoxious, over-confident, foul-mouthed, nasally accented gits over the ditch, regain your swagger and send these Poms packing. Use your noggins!!!!!

If Eddie wanted possession I don't think your fellas would be kicking it away every time they got it. Apart from the only important one, the score, the other stat england led in was number of kicks. Very dominant in that. -
Point.

Greasy ball in Melbourne, kicking not the worst option. What's the weather forecast for Sydney? -
Hey us Poms have enough trouble passing the ball at the best times, let alone if it's slippery, greasy, insert excuse here

Looks like it's going to be dry I n Sydney on match day and my prediction based on absolutely nothing at all, is that England will run it a lot more (although you could argue they could hardly run it any less than last week). My guess is that Eddie will want to show we have developed a few more strings to our bow and also catch the Aussies by surprise by not kicking the leather off everything. -

If i had the best scrum, the best lineout, the best tackling, and the best goal kicker, i would be kicking every single piece of ball i got. It's not pretty, but it gets the job done.

-

Agree, I also quite like watching the different style of game played by England too.

There's more than 1 way to win a rugby game.

Seems like in recent years everyone has tried to copy the All Blacks plan and failed.
-

Bit of rain around today but quite windy, so shouldn't be here for long, or be too detrimental.

Tomorrow is sunny and cold as a front comes across the continent, dumping snow on the ranges.
