@voodoo i think most if not all would agree, i took @Billy-Tell 's comment more as...it seems the only way fozzie is going to see sotutu as first string is if he has a worldie if a game...unfair..definitely...but...
-
Reasonably happy with the starting XV, pleased to see Sotutu get a start and it will be a good match up against Valetini. hope he takes the opportunity and plays a blinder.
Not sure I agree with SB at 6, not saying he's not good at it, but clearly they want to maintain a tighter 6 style. But we don't learn anything new by doing this...
I would have liked to see AI get a start and Jacobson on the bench to get a run late in the game, Surely AI has got some motivation to have a big game after watching SF smash rucks and do all the tight stuff....that said he's capable of being a big impact late in the game.
Also thought the Ginger could have got a start...but maybe seeing AS starting to run a bit in the last match was enough to keep him starting.
Should be an entertaining game... Aussies will be fizzing, especially if they get in front early...but they have made a lot of changes.. ABs by 12 for me.
-
@Kiwiwomble I don't think it would matter of he scored 4 tries carrying the Aus pack from halfway on his back, he is only getting time due to Saveas unavailability...so while he does need to take his chance, it is setting the bar a tad high if this even has a hint of a make or break game for him.
-
It's interesting to me to see so many people advocating for changes to the line-up for the fun of it.
-
@mariner4life Thomson was the go to backup in all 3 positions 2011 IIRC
-
@taniwharugby i agree...but i think thats where we are regardless of how fair it is

@Kirwan i don't think you can play Savea and Akira in the same starting pack even behind teh england 2003 tight 5.
I don't give a shit about the chat on here. the only thing SF did was smack rucks and run straight, oh and tackle with a shoulder. Far from perfect but it made the team better. Akira might want to think about that.
See this is the silliness I'm talking about. Akira has done everything that Frizzell has done recently (with the exception of throwing away tries), including tackling hard and running hard (once through four Irish defenders for a try).
Savea and Akira have combined well on many occasions, this is a classic Fern myth brewing. One of the dumber ones too.
Hi. Big Akira fanboi here.
But I kinda agree with @mariner4life .
I'd love to see him running from depth in close. But thinking SB, Friz and Vai'i (the latter based on hope and speculation admittedly) can do that better in the early stages of a test.
And think we're better suited to having him come on later in the game to test the gaps out wide.

I’m ok with the team except I would have brought Reece back. Not sure what he did to get dropped tbh other than play pretty well against Ireland.
Sotutu needs to take his opportunity. It’s entirely in his hands.
i know right, i think thats whats gets me, the people that get dropped after playing well and those that keep playing after playing poorly...hence my suspicion fozzie does his selections based on Rugby Challenge 19 player ratings
Yes and no.
Fan of Reece. But who to leave out? Your choices are JB or CC.

I'd rather the best lock play lock, and the best six play six.
Leave the wide stuff to Savea, and in this game Sotutu, and use Akira's strength in close to get us over the advantage line. Frizzel is Owen Franks-like in reaching the line and hitting the ground. The guy got smashed backwards by an inside back!
He's also one of the better maul forwards in the country, still a big weakness for the ABs.

Hmmm. I see the akira is awesome posts again. Bloody well show us please akira with a dominant display off the bench rather than an ok-ish one.
TBF there’s only one poster dying on that hill.
He’s a good player no doubt but the fact is that it’s not just Foster but Ryan as well that can see that he doesn’t match the desire for a straight running charger. They want someone that tackles with their shoulder more than their arms and drives with their legs in contact rather than trying to step.

On form, Will Jordan gets a rest.

i'd probably give Jordie a chop out, dont think he has anything to prove, we know he can do the job

No, just one that can be bothered arguing with the usual suspects about it.
Everything you wrote up there describes Akira's game. FFS.

No, just that you are pretty wrong (as usual) about how he plays.

@booboo Some players seem to be above criticism, WJ is one of them. Hasn't been playing well.
you can admit he hasn't been playing well whilst also acknowledging he's spent a lot of time on the end of a dysfunctioning backline (at times) and is potentially a much better 15 than 14, and its hard to say if he's better at 15 than JB if he never gets a run

His kicking when covering back has been poor, so quite far from getting ahead of JB on that aspect alone.
Reece has made a lot of attacking impact this year, and drastically improved his defence. Has been unlucky.
