Let’s see if they can back up one solid performance with another
That was more than a 'solid performance'. That was Athletic Park '96 stuff.
Things get unrealistic when we start countering poor results with a need to trounce everyone and turn in amazing 80 minute spells all the time.
We used to say that winning ugly is still winning but that seems to have disappeared.
Dominant teams don't just rack up highlight reels, they learn how to get the W 8/10 times and win the big ones.I expect that the Convicts will be better prepared and adjust better on field than Argentina did.
This RC has been an odd experience in the first proper post covid tournament for the SH. NZ has failed and learned twice. SA once and Argentina also once. Australia have come up with good first game plans then been shut down the following week twice. -

I don’t recall a Thursday game between these two since Gregan performed that tackle on Wilson.
It means we’ll get the “when is the team named” posts much earlier.
I am amazed that you recall that game being on a Thursday.

Maybe Wednesday but definitely midweek

Cherry picking two of your points there Crucial...
Seems to me we're not winning ugly at the moment. We're either losing or winning big.
And it's kind of related to my assertion that the differences between winning and losing, and winning and thrashing are small.
And it's not just the RC with wildly varying results week to week. Each series in the international window seemed to go to a decider.
Suggests to me that there is a distinct evenness about WR at the moment, and smallish advantages get amplified.
On that basis am appropriately concerned for next Thursday.

@Jailbreak7 Not quite.

If the wc is our goal, stringing together a few good games has to be what we are striving towards

ABs by 50.
I doubt it. Hard to back up such a performance and the Wallabies will be hurting after being beaten up by the Boks - they'll be out to prove a point.
Looking at our growing injury list, and absolutely shit ruck technique, I'm not convinced we're hurting sufficiently.
But fine OK then: ABs by 40.
-
i'll be there, top deck, a few different groups of friends/club people/work mates going, wondering about booking a table at the maori chief for pre game
-
I wouldn’t be focused too much on the last performances by either side. It’s a two week break, the way the Argies and Boks play is very different to how the ABs and Wallabies tend to play.
Inaccuracy has been a problem for both sides going back to the Ireland and England series and continued on in the RC.
We have a “settled” side and OZ have a growing injury/out ward that includes their best 10 and best 7.
