All of the backline issues stem from the decisions of the 10. Our biggest problem is that we keep selecting 10s that are extremely well skilled players that seemingly have zero tactical awareness.
For all the talk of how good Mounga was in SA, last night he may as well have renamed himself Beauden.
No use looking for answers in the midfield if they are being expected to do things that aren’t on. That only leads to them trying things they shouldn’t or aren’t equipped to do.
Both RM and BB are front foot geniuses but terrible on static ball or breaking down set defences. We get blinded by their skills when they get to use them. They want to attack from everywhere rather than earn the right.
Even DMac for all his crazy will use his boot to steer the team or pick out straight runners.
I’d like to see Perofeta given a chance to run the show. I have no idea if he is the answer but RM and BB aren’t.

Perofeta maybe, but if he gets a run it will be on the back of bugger all play at 10 this season. He even played 15 for the Naki last week when it would have been an ideal time to give him some time at 10.

So yeah, given he played well for the Blues at 15 Foster will probably play him at 10.

Perofeta did get a few starts at 10 for the Blues this season and looked sharp there. He also finished some games at 10.

I think he got an AB spot because he performed at 10 and not just at 15. If he only performed at 15, I'm not sure he makes the All Blacks.

In saying that, I would probably wait for Japan to get him a chance at 10.

    Yuck. That wouldn’t solve anything.

@MN5 he had a really gangly running style and just enough pace - but I remember being stoked that Goodhue had a bit of toe for a bigger 13. I'd be a virtual choc fish that Jack would edge him in a footrace. Then again that was when he burst on the scene and neither of them have afterburners like Ennor or Reiko at 13.

If Ennor didn't have Brad Shields disease he could make a good 13.

@Crucial 100%. I have to admit any 13 prospect with genuine pace gets me going, but so far they've been lacking in other areas. While he's a 12 I'm still waiting for RTS to get a shot in a game of significance as well.

Just slightly more than bugger all. Four starts and he finished a lot of games at ten.

He keeps getting played at 15 because that's his better position. From fullback he manages to break a lot of tackles when it looks like the defence already has him

He's a bit like McKenzie. Clearly a better fullback and a useful squad option as a 3rd/4th ten

The two guys in front of him are better.

They both might benefit from a genuine second play maker though. Havili has not really been used like that, Jordie isn't offering it from fullback. Perofeta at 15 is something worth looking at

RTS. A guy newly back learning the code in at a position he doesn't play which is widely recognised as one of the more difficult positions to play?

    Yeah right.

    Yeah right.

If he gets a start it will be with his SR centre partner. Maybe outside his SR ten too

Of the people in the squad I wouldn't mind seeing QT/RI again with RTS on the bench. The other options all straighten more than DH

Looks like he has a touch of Ronan O’Gara/Merhts in him too.

Lam would be such a better pick than Ennor.

Though it matters little when half the squad never plays anyway.

@Crucial I don’t think RTS is a 12 and I don’t think the all blacks think that either. If you watched his debut he went on at 13.

@Crucial they only play RTS at 12 because that’s the only gap left at the Blues

Well since that appearance the backs coach and 2 of the 3 selectors are gone.

@Yeahtheboys he couldn't displace Reiko at the blues so he's unlikely to do that for the ABs. He's def a 12 imo. Great footwork in traffic and a good defender. He didnt play centre in the NRL, and if he had schoolboy exp at 13 that's a long time ago.

If they see him as a 13 then something has to happen at SR and domestic level.

    @Paekakboyz they already had

    1. Christie
    2. Beauden
    3. Clarke
    4. tumbleweed
    5. Rieko
    6. Talea
    7. Perofeta / Sullivan

So they started the “RTS is a 12” rumour.

RTS is an amazing athlete and would definitely be a class 12 but I think his best position is further out
