Of the young hookers playing, Thompson and Vikena look good. Haven't seen enough of Bell.

@Machpants I like that combo, on the proviso that Coles doesn't arrive with the red mist triggered. When he's a short step from the edge of raging he is excellent. I just can't see what Codie is offering at the moment and we need physicality like Foster needs a W... hmm wonder if there is anything connecting those things...

And none of those will be starters for their SR teams. Bell will be behind McAlister too, so getting enough minutes on the field could be an issue.

Well Coles and Taylor are not cutting it so we need change. They should not be there next year. Why persist? What do you think Rennie would do? Don't think he would hesitate to replace them?

@Tim yup she's wide open for next season. Taylor needs to sort off field shit by all accounts.

I thought something must be up. Do tell.

Vikena for me should be looked at (and no, not because he's a Blues player). I'd look at trying to blood him in at some stage. He's like another version of Taukeiaho. Not as good at this stage obviously, but a kid with huge promise.

Not a silly question. He seemed much improved in Super. Still a couple more steps to take and probably appears more average than he is due to the contrast with Sami. Has a good work rate and core duties are getting much better.

Jeez i thought vikena looked bloody hopeless the few times I saw him over super season! That's the braided hair guy?

Aumua struggled a bit during SR but is worth another look. He’s looked in better form during the NPC

Eklund apart from one game has played well. At least he’d improve our breakdown work.

Both flawed but still better than Taylor

He had a few injury issues this year, hence the fact the Canes used about 8 hookers.

Aumua has been Wellington’s best to start the NPC so hopefully that continues.

@Crazy-Horse we have lost 4 out of our 6 tests this year, 3 of them at home...we are at the bottom of the barrel already.

@Machpants well sadly many pointed out losing to the Argies, possibly losing the Bledisloe and then at least a couple on EOYT this year as being on the cards too...

we are in for ALOT of hurt in the next few months.

Mr. Foster's record this season must be asterixed as he has not had the benefit of three 100 point warm ups against any Pacific Island Nations this year so his record could easily read five from nine and hey presto that a winning percentage. Having said that what would previously have been 100 pointers are now probably reduced to 50 pointers given his performance levels.

True, but that also backs up the 'cattle' part of the argument in our poor results.

was it last year there was hype about 'most points in a calendar year', conveniently ignoring the multiple tier 2 and 3 teams we played to run up cricket scores.

And who could forget Tonga rolling over our forwards for a maul try ... a harbinger of things to come.

I can see George Bell being fast tracked sooner rather than later.
