They scored an absolutely beautiful try when they had the chance.
It is true if our pack was dominating we'd be doing better, but they have offered less than.any team.that i can remember for years.

I'm afraid Goodhue's pace was never a strength and may now be worse.

@nostrildamus faster than Conrad for sure
Totally agree he's likely to have lost some pace after his knee injuries but he had enough pace for the job.

and while pace never hurts 13 is all about positioning, vision, and anticipation. Goodhue wasn't on Conrad's level but aside from ALB he's been the best we've had for a long while.

Goodhue is gone burgers, he's the kahui of today's ABs without the timing to be fit when needed for the cup. Really it is ALB, who is injured. But he's our only midfielder with Conrad rugby brains. He is a 13, like the lawyer, and also not huge. SO we need a big 12 who can hit the line. Thus Havili is totally out, so Tupuea need sthe game time. Or Jordie, or just someone who can bend the line - something that our tens or 13s can't. Ioane is so shit in his defensive reads at 13, he should be on the wing, he so fucking aweome there. So really we need to place our top players well. Havilli/Ioane is in no way the answer. But until we lose the bled in 4 weeks time, it's probably what we are stuck with

Don't get me wrong, great rugby brain and distributor but his knee injury issues are apparently a real concern AFAIK.

I know one too, but he seems to always have an 8 on his back instead of a 12.

ALB is a lock at centre, he is good leadership calm, plays well in close qtrs and workmate off the ball.
I would gamble on Thomas U-J If he could stay healthy at 12. X factor, combative can play in traffic and disrupt rush defences. Clarke I would continue with but he needs to increase his carrying in the middle, he is a weapon at getting over advantage line. Sometimes I wonder if we pick with the right mentality, always looking for the ‘best’ player rather then the one that is suited to play at that level. (If that makes sense) that’s why we continue with Havili, he probably is the best player at super level but we all know he isn’t suited to the international game. -
All of the backline issues stem from the decisions of the 10. Our biggest problem is that we keep selecting 10s that are extremely well skilled players that seemingly have zero tactical awareness.
For all the talk of how good Mounga was in SA, last night he may as well have renamed himself Beauden.
No use looking for answers in the midfield if they are being expected to do things that aren’t on. That only leads to them trying things they shouldn’t or aren’t equipped to do.
Both RM and BB are front foot geniuses but terrible on static ball or breaking down set defences. We get blinded by their skills when they get to use them. They want to attack from everywhere rather than earn the right.
Even DMac for all his crazy will use his boot to steer the team or pick out straight runners.
I’d like to see Perofeta given a chance to run the show. I have no idea if he is the answer but RM and BB aren’t. -

As I said though, IMO neither RM or BB are the answer to start against teams that get in our faces. I'd be happy with any other suggestions but apart from them Perofeta and DMac would be our only other options.
I'd like to see Perofeta being given a game where he is prepared by the coaches to go out there as a conductor and not the cymbal player. -

Smith was actually pretty quick if memory serves. I’m 100% sure Goodhue wouldn’t have skinned him even at his best.

@MN5 he had a really gangly running style and just enough pace - but I remember being stoked that Goodhue had a bit of toe for a bigger 13. I'd be a virtual choc fish that Jack would edge him in a footrace. Then again that was when he burst on the scene and neither of them have afterburners like Ennor or Reiko at 13.
