Springboks v All Blacks I

I can see Arendse only getting 50% of 6 weeks = 3 weeks. In games it may be longer, because he also has to go through concussion protocols.

Isn't 6 weeks low range? I would think that incident was higher?

Feel sorry for Cane.
He was a great understudy.
Should gave started the SF in 2019, hopefully won and swanned off into the sunset.
He is a gutsy son of a bitch (injury comeback to be considered too) but he looks bereft.

Well I'll just have to go back to sleep and pretend it was just a bad dream. I thought Cane tackled well but we need a more assertive Captain. Sami T proves he is number 1 hooker, BB again could not get direction going, Aaron seemed slower, our prop selection need a serious rethink, Jordan's worst test and I am not going to defend Coles any more.
Well done Boks-not Champagne rugby but heavy duty pub pet, still does the job. We lack cohesion, direction and dare I say it, strategy. -
@Stargazer why would he get a substantial discount like 50% when it was so reckless and dangerous with no mitigating factors.

You're right. 50% of 8 weeks, so 4 weeks.

I actually feel bad for players, nobody wants to feel the way they do. Some good stuff there but we are a side who clearly doesn’t have a DNA. SA, Ireland, France even Aussie have a clear plan and looked connected, us we look like we are searching and play with little confidence on attack which puts our basic skills (catch pass and breakdown) under pressure. We need our plan to suit the players we have, I think there are elements where we are copying others (yes the ABs are not the leaders of innovation!) not gonna bag players but we need guys who are smart when we don’t have the ball, again hate comparisons but Conrad Smith was awesome without the ball. I feel with our plan we can be one-trick- ponies out wide.. my issue is I have no confidence that this will change, it’s been a long time since we have looked cohesive
-
Why can't we catch kicks?

When you're there to just tackle and miss your first tackle, a simple standard off the scrum.... you're not on your game. Time to go back and work on it.

Oh fuck off Fozzie. Best performance of the year my ass.

He nearly Alex McKinnon'd Beaudy with a fucking retarded challenge. He shouldn't play again in this tournament.

I would drop Havili, Aaron Smith, Jordie, Akira, Cane, both starting props.
Mo'unga probably deserves a few tests now too.
and replace Akira with Shannon??
Was Akira that bad? did some important tackles and at least one lineout. -
-
@Bones defence I thought was much better. Issue was we have them some easy rides into out territory through high balls, and not being accurate at crucial times.
-
So what did Foster learn from this performance this week? Which building blocks are close together exactly and which ones are miles apart?
I can't remember the last time I saw such a toothless AB attack. Boks didn't have to do much, if anything. Just make their tackles and wait for an AB mistake.
There was heart and effort on defence. But those should be a given.
Samisoni played well. Lineout went well. Scrum got better. Young props got better.
Backrow had no platform to work off. AB backline looks very confused. How many times did players receive the ball standing still? I shouldn't be, but I'm shocked. These players aren't as bad as they are playing.

I don’t disagree with what you have said, other than I think OZ are in a very similar boat to us. On evidence their plan is get the ball to Kerevi (or Koroibete) and see what happens.

But he does get the Not An All Black discount. So probably only 2 weeks.

I seen Rieko catch a pass around 60 minutes and I thought Jesus , I forgot he was playing.
The 23 is something you would select when you are 14. Picking all the fast lads .
This team lacks Ben from accounts, Crotty's, Conrads, Franks brothers. Nuts and bolts. Hang your hat on them players.
This team isn't even doing the simple stuff well. Never mind the razzle dazzle.

Foster really doesn't seem that upset about destroying our legacy does he.
-
@Bones yes give you that but he stopped a lot of their hooker's drive. I cant see him getting much of a running and linking game back (promising glimpse in 2021 never returned). And he doesn't seem to be winning tackles either. My point was really to srparate the captaincy issue from 7 issue (and i still think Ardie is more of a 7 than 8, our best 7).
-
Next week's predictions are going to be ugly.

It was mainly forwards receiving it standing still. Our attack for most of the game lacked execution and precision.

To be fair, it's a low bar.

Anyway, next game the Springboks will be without Kolbe and Arendse.
The All Blacks are likely to be without BB.I hope their* injuries aren't too bad.

Boks will still have all their forwards next week. Therein lies the problem.

He played a very average game. I didn't mention the captaincy there as he achieved zero there.

he has to go.
Hanging on another week and then beating a Hooperless Wallabies and Argentina counts for nothing.

Faf will have to stand down too.
-
@ACT-Crusader I put that down because we had our shape we went straight into, no matter what picture boks were showing. but when there defence shut that down we didn’t have another plan which created a disjointed attack.

Fair enough just explaining why I posted that. They still aren't working well together as a trio imho

@stodders And Foster will still be our coach next week....
He was given 2 matches Vs Boks to save his job. He now has one left. He'd best hope the Boks get a red card in first 5 mins next week.
-
Wonder who they select at prop next week, Angus T and Lomax didn't convince..
