<p>Big problems in Lille again, this time the English hooligans causing havoc. Damn, I so hope that we'll never see this trouble surrounding rugby games! It's just awful.</p>

Great win for Norn Iron yesterday, but sadly another fan died. I doubt anyone keeps stats on fan mortality rates at major tournaments (actually, I don't doubt that), but relative to the size of NI's population/fanbase, two travelling fans dead for one country in the first week must be some kind of ghoulish record.

Aye, no way am I cheering for Russia or Slovakia over the Welsh. I had Bale at 6/1 for first scorer yesterday, and he didn't let me down. With Hart's knack for high profile fails (in my view, at least), 6/1 was too good an opportunity to miss. -

As for Russia they are a miserable country filled with miserable people aren't they? Mrs CF has a work colleague who is Russian but moved to NZ when she was very young, she farken hates them</p> -
It's not all doom and gloom. Plenty of fans from the likes of Sweden, Poland, Belgium, Ireland, Wales, etc enjoying themselves and creating good atmosphere in the stadiums.

<p>If the only stories you've read about Euro 2016 this week were about the violence between England and Russia fans, you'd think France was a pretty unsafe place to be right now.</p>
<p>Luckily, the Irish fans are showing what major football tournaments are all about.</p>
<p>Decked out in all green, the Irish supporters have been winning over people everywhere they've been so far.</p>
<p>Their deeds during the European Championships so far include changing the tyre for an elderly French couple, singing Westlife and ABBA and some of the funniest football chants you've heard.</p>
<p>For example, the Irish were chanting "Go home to your sexy wives" to their Swedish counterparts before the clash in Saint Denis outside Paris.</p>
<p>While Russian and English fans pelted French police with bottles and trashed bars and restaurants, the Green Army was actually cleaning up after itself.</p>

<p>The fan sang "clean up for the boys in green" as they picked up trash from the area in Bordeaux they had been drinking.</p>
<p>A cyclist was also given a helping hand through a huge crowd of supporters.</p>
<p>The Green Army also paid tribute to Northern Ireland supporter Darren Rodgers, who died in Nice after a fall, the <i>Guardian</i> reports.</p>
<p>In the 24th minute of the game against Sweden, the fan chanted "Stand up for the Ulsterman" in his memory.</p> <p>Of course, the Martin O'Neill coached team is going pretty well on the field as well, playing some great football in its opening 1-all draw against Sweden at Stade de France.</p> <p>Next up Ireland face Belgium in Bordeaux and then Italy in Villeneuve-d'Ascq - so it's not going to get any easier on the pitch.</p> <p>Let's hope their fans can continue to provide more colourful moments like these off the pitch.</p> <br><p>-News.com.au</p> </div></blockquote>

Normally like the euros as much as the World Cup but not got into it this year yet with 24 teams to be whittled down by just 8 in the pool stages.<br><br>
Also hadn't followed the qualifiers as it seemed it would be almost impossible to not qualify. But now realising Holland, by their absence, must have managed just that. <br><br>
Plus Scotland. Gee, they've fallen off the sporting cliff the last 20 to 25 years. -

<p>The most relevant 'un' applicable to England is 'unable' to put the ball in the back of the net.</p>

<p>England had the majority of possession, territory and shots on target against Russia, Wales, and Slovakia but failed to convert that superiority against Russia and Slovakia. Truth be told they were about two minutes and a lucky ricochet from drawing all three matches and sweating on progession to the last 16.</p>

<p>Wales on the other hand were worthy winners of two of their three group matches, and came within two minutes of going unbeaten despite being second best to England (see above).</p>

<p>Wales as a team has scored the most goals so far (6) and Gareth Bale is the current top goal scorer (3).</p>

<p>I just can't bring myself to watch soccer anymore. I intensely dislike the histrionics during the game, after the game by the managers and the preening and the attitude to the refs and, and, and lots of other stuff. I caught some of the England v Slavs match though and the BS interviews and pundits afterwards. Complete tosh. England were this, England were that. No. What England were was shit at the main point of the game which is to score more goals than the opposition. Ian Wright you're talking shit. And the rest of you too. Except the foreigner bloke who said it straight.</p>
