I'd say Blues fans might not be happy with the starting XV. We still need to find a 2nd 5 regardless who the coach is.
I'm curious to see what Razor could do fitting a few of the better Blues players into his system. Maybe he could get more out of Akira, Paps and Sotutu than Foster clearly could. They haven't reached their ceiling yet
I can't see all of them surviving a Razor cull.
Razor also likes Taylor and Ennor...
Worth a punt, then, on George Bridge getting another shot at the big time if Razor gets the job.

Yeah rubbish, for SR yes, but he now has an entire country to pick from. He's a pro coach, not a fucking idiot, like Foster

another pointer to how ill prepared we are and void of any kind of game plan (that mickey mouse wasnt aware of) was the fact Ireland pretty much followed the same plan in the opening stanza in each test, and scored early in each test.
How we were unable to counter this says it all really.
I wonder if there are stats available on how many times other teams score first against us?
We have always been slow starters, but the last 3 weeks have been so soft watchint the Irish do the same thing each week.

If he wants to succeed he will need to take the best the country has. Not just his own players. The task is to get the best out of the best players. Otherwise he might as well stay in Chch
It's only natural he will have an affinity for Grace, Blackadder and perhaps even Christie. Which isn't wrong, I'm just saying I highly doubt you would get that blues trio in his squad.
-
@Bones not that I'm saying more 'saders should be there, but it certainly makes you wonder how thier team and having a gameplan would have fared against the Irish.
I'm thinking they would likely not have done worse at least in part to thier defensive structure.
Razor and his team did well pulling the Crusaders together and forulating a plan to nullify the Blues, I suspect he'd have had some ideas about dealing with the Irish too; other than 3 quick passes to static runners, kick it in behind, then try to tackle them

Yep, Razor doesn't do favourites, so he'll cull whoever he thinks can't do the job at this level. It will be totally irrelevant who they play for in Super Rugby. He'll make the tough decisions.
I also think it's premature to speculate who will be culled (and that includes Taylor, Cane, props, all the Barretts), because he'll have a better idea of how to get the best out of players than Foster and co. Players who haven't been firing the last few years, might get a new lease on AB life with a different preparation, changes in training methods, game plan and also culture.
He may not be able to change everything at the same time (and this year), because there are tests to be played and you can't make too many changes all at once (players have to learn new game plans/structures), but I think the changes will be thorough.

A visible plan and pattern would be good. Even a simple one. Our boys looked lost out there last night, on defence and attack. I still can't get over seeing them like that

@Daffy-Jaffy So he'll miss both tests against South Africa and Argentina and may be available to play the Wallabies.
-
I'm coming around to the conspiracy theory that we keep picking players because if we don't they leave, while younger guys will hang on a bit.

so if we were to name a squad for TRC, what changes would we see if we had one squad picked by Fozzie, and one picked by Razor (if that happened) how many differences would there be?
Who'd be toast, who'd be bought in?
To be honest, I think there would be very few changes to the squad - and most would be reflected in the comments about picking pre- and post- the Super rugby final.
I think we'd see at least one of the Crusaders tighthead props come in and I think we'd see Grace in for Sowakula - and I expect those whomever is coach. Probably de- Groot in for Big Karl.
Picking the best 36 players in NZ isn't difficult - it only changes on the fringe.
Picking the starting 23 would probably be a bit of a different story.
I'd be surprised if Razor didn't start Mo'unga - but, Fozzie's also got to be looking at that very closely.
There's all sorts of changes that could be made in the forwards that wouldn't necessarily be Crusaders oriented. Sami T. might start. Ardie could be shifted to 7 with Sotutu starting.
I think it's more about gameplan, systems, confidence and culture than changing the players.
I think Razor brings the last of these in spades, so I'm keen to see him there.
I really don't want to see someone else using him and his ideas against us. It's bad enough waiting for Rennie.

@mariner4life I was surprised when the likes of Codie taylor signed on through to 2025 yet here we are

Whoever is coach you would have to think Grace will come into the picture. We'll probably need Barrett to start at lock so Grace could be an excellent option at 6.
6 = Ioane
7 = Savea
8 = GraceI'd like to see Sotutu used a bit and I personally like what Jacobsen brings. PGS - no thanks. Think Cane needs to be relieved of the captaincy and given the NPC to find some form. Though Papalili was extremely disappointing - offered the square sum of FA in his appearances.
With Retallick out, can give some decent game time to Vaii, with Barrett, Whitelock and someone else (but someone else must not be tuipolotu).

We have TON of wingers better than him. -

Don't see why not if, as the pundits say, we have plenty of players with higher skill levels than other countries and he has access to them. It's his job to win Tests consistently and make changes to do that rapidly. I'd expect a heck of lot better than Foster's record of success.
there are tests to be played and you can't make too many changes all at once (players have to learn new game plans/structures), but I think the changes will be thorough.
He's an excellent coach strong on embedding game plans, culture, instilling confidence etc and he'd be working with the cream of NZ players so I don't see the problem with rapid change and success. As has been said many times, Rassie did it.
If Razor gets the job before the RC, I'd expect a heck of lot better than Foster's record of success. I'd want him to at least equal Foster's 2021 win ratio in that completion, so one loss only, and no losses on the EOYT tour considering it's a light schedule and we are playing Wales, Scotland and only one traditionally difficult opponent in England. Anything less would be zero progress.

Whatever they do, I’d have this on the wall.
The entire rugby community, including world rugby, is enjoying the ABs being shown up.
Every coach - and AB - should have to look at shit like this and consider whether they are prepared to put some Mana back into the jersey.
If you cant deliver, leave.
