Final thought from me before I rescue the TV from the swimming pool:
It's not that we lost, it's the way we lost. Zero progress, no coherent strategy or game plan and poor on-field management.
It's like watching a slow motion Tour de France crash over and over again.

Reado says we looked like strangers. Goldie names the coaches as culpable. This is truth
When former players (and your previous captain), great players, start going for you, you must know your time is up.
And he was trying hard not to say bad stuff. The pressure on the NZRFU and Fozz will be immense.

He's proud of how we came back in the 2nd half, and there were some nice signs there. Good stuff. Can't wait to see if we can topple the mighty Argentina this year.
Did anyone ask him how he felt about the first half?

So this, we have nothing as a team

Agree. I.can accept losing if we play our best. But we look like a rabble right now. And the ABs rarely do rabble

Not directly, it was soft ball shit from Smithy

Yet we can play so bloody well when we want to - e.g. 3rd quarter.

This. You can accept a loss if you can see that the players are trying to implement something new and it not quite clicking. Like when Smith introduced the flat attack alignment under Henry.
The set piece isn't as good as it was.
Set piece attack is non-existent.
Phased attack is poor, plus poor skills mean lots of turnovers.
Defence is porous.
ABs will always have game breakers because of the talent still there.
It reminds me of Brazil after 1970. Exceptional players doing their own thing, but losing against better teams. It took a coach who made them structured again (with flashes of brilliance, but with onus on solidity and team) with a set system before they won another world cup in 1994.

Even then I can't remember the last time I saw structured rugby from our MIB

I had to re post this again.
Foster quotes from this week
“This is where you want to be in terms of the excitement,” he said. “We don’t want to lose a test, but we have, and to have a big game in front of us like this means the eyes go really quickly from looking back to forward. We’ve had some big days, but that’s the way it should be. The work that’s been done is fantastic.
**My Question MR Foster do you need to lose to get excited about fronting up in the Black jersey by losing the week before ?.
Is not pulling on that jersey enough to get the team excited.“I can’t wait to play Ireland. We’re learning … well I think we already knew, but everyone else is learning that this is a high-quality team we’re playing. It’s a great examination for us. So we’ve got to show we’re smart and we’re learning as well.”
What have you learned in the last few years you have been involved not much that I can see.If you already knew it why did we play so. badly.
Just more BS Dribble with the same outcomes. -

But it was simple, basic, minimal-mistake rugby played at speed and with venom, which created pressure on the other side and allowed players with freakish talent to exploit the opportunities.
Why do we have to wait until we are 15 points down to play like that?

THIS HAS TO BE THE QUOTE OF THE WHOLE THREAD. EXACTLY
-
Did anyone else notice the comment from the great K. Read. on AU and ENG - talking about Dave Rennie and how ‘they’ve got a coach they are really playing for over there’. A short but interesting comment. I’d love to hear the comms team speak candidly.

I'd like to see us play 80 minutes of no frills direct physical rugby

It reminded me of that 3rd quarter against France last year (on that occasion it was Ardie, AI & ST). Flashes of competence amongst the crap
The main problem is the tight five though. Their clean out work has been terrible for a long time

Absolute failure to secure the breakdown. You can't attack for numerous phases if you keep turning the ball over

When we are under pressure we hold the ball and start to compete physically.
Our biggest issue is kicking static ball. How many box kicks? What % did we regather.

Didn’t resign. Has to be sacked.
Him resigning means he admits he's wrong, him being said NZR amid they were wrong. Neither will happen until we are in s much worse place

And while I thought Ireland had a good chance of winning, never did I suspect they would get over 30 points. We leak like a sieve.
Ireland let the ball do the work and NZ were left watching
Hansen’s involvement in Keenan’s try was outstanding
Ball carrier, ruck protector, slotting in to outside half to split open the defence in three consecutive plays
Henshaw’s try should be in the coaching manual

Can't give benefits of the doubt any more. Hope Joe Schmidt gets quick promotion to head coach now.
Our hooker and midfield selections backfired unsurprisingly in my view. Outside the 50 22 Havili seemed just as pressured as Rieko all night. Taylor again failed to deliver. And the bench did not work. Needed more direction and intelligence when Smith and Cane went off but we seemed far more disorganised. Vaii gave it his all. But what was RTS there for?
Sure as hell hope we see Jordie at 12 Jordan at 15 and Rieko and Reece on the wing. Our kicking and kick chase so poor and we seem to have lost our connectivity on counter-attack.
Gibson Park and Beirne best on the park for me. Well done Ireland!
