Also the fact they've got a limited window to run this - four teams = 3 weeks. Perfect. Run it alongside the Tests and capture as many internationals as you can.
Six teams makes it a bit shit. You guys are launching into NPC now so you don't necessarily need this to keep your players active. Everyone else is back in club land.
Yeah, I guess we can't win all the trophies from you guys
Shame, really. I mean, your Private Equity paymasters will soon tell you which competitions you're allowed to play in, so...

By the same token you'll be playing the Oz rugby version of the NRL and Origin soon so there'll be a spot to fill in the Pacific Nations Cup if our equity paymasters deem it worthy enough.

I do love his articles, I wish that he would poke his ozzie nose more into the ABs!

@Machpants good article. While stats don't tell you the whole story, he makes a good case for a 6-2 bench and the players he wishes to pick.
Holloway was listed as a likely out so maybe it becomes Leota to 6 and Wilson on the bench.

So there is a golden decade of money pouring in for AR, but where will it go?
We secured a $40m line of credit, we pay a fair interest rate for the money but we used it as a lifeline while we got the game better organised
And there’s a real possibility that we may go and borrow more money to fund ourselves through to 2025.””
Ah, it'll go to paying off debts

@Machpants I'm on the Board of an affiliate union here in Sydney. While I don't get stuff exactly from the horse's mouth, Rugby Australia is exactly what you'd expect of a sports body that is run as a corporation; there are some things come down the pipe that make you wonder whether they understand "rugby" at all...

Good read that. I wish I had more time these days to read stuff like this regularly, and to have watched enough rugby to form my own opinion on whether it's arse or not.
But this seems fairly solid from my apartment here in the Greek Islands.
Did I mention I'm on holidays???

rugby vic is the same...several of the clubs asked if we could start our games an hour earlier so that we could pack up and get back to the club rooms to watch the AB's game, just said NO...all games had to be played at the normal time so the 1's didn;t get back to the club rooms till 545ish

Mate it sounds like the Wellington rugby union back in the 70s, a test was live on tv (wasn't allowed to be advertised in those days but everyone knew), when a couple of clubs suggested changing time the Wellington rugby union replied with are they players or tv watchers and wouldn't move them. I thought those days were gone.

conversely i remember playing colts rugby in dunedin in the late 90's at 9am so the prems could play before lunch and everyone could watch games at 2:35....good times
