Cheers for the greetings, all. Haven't been back here in a while.
Was just checking my historic posts on here on the last time Ireland played NZ at home. Thankfully, the Fern data only goes back to Nov 2012 - my memories and commentary on the 3 test series has been wiped from memory.
Not sure if other Irish fans will turn up here, but I'll try nudge a few from other fora.
Welcome back Mr Hale!

Welsh perspective
The Irish boys look knackered
If they can recharge prior to the first test they could nick it
Otherwise 3-0 to NZ
-
@MiketheSnow Hope they can (recharge)!
We need to know whether the boot was on the other foot last year when - despite the scoreboard - they inflicted one of the most comprehensive defeats I can remember.
We may have been running on fumes - but, also we may not have been.

@Derm-McCrum what happened to that big midfielder Stuart McClosky ?
He looked to have the goods but seems to be out of favour.
McCloskey just seems to never have grabbed head coaches' interest. He's been playing really well alongside newbie, James Hume, this season, but still not enough. I think only an injury to one of the selected midfielders would get him into the frame.

Think Mike could be right though. Leinster look like they are exhausted. They've come up short in both club comps, and the La Rochelle defeat really looks like it's taken the wind out of the their sails. Ulster lost by a 6 minutes into the red conversion in their semifinal. Munster got derailed somewhat with the news of van Graan's departure and seemed to lose their way after that with some harsh defeats. Connacht started season well and then got overwhelmed once again.
Farrell & Co are going to need to work some magic to get them to gel again. His decision to use a lot of the Leinster players in the Ireland team may come back to haunt him on this tour if their cohesion and spirit is damaged.
The first test is probably their best chance to nick a win, but I don't see it happening.

Part of it was playing at the end of a long year, but we were very poor in the forwards anyway, Ireland were much better there so controlled the match... the key area for the ABs is the breakdown area where most of the possession is contested, in the first test we've got to be very aggressive at the breakdown from the start, have solid set pieces & hopefully our playmakers at halfback & 1st-five make good decisions.

Pot Hale?
But yes Enjoy the return of @Derm-McCrum . I like as many Johnny foreigner we can get joined in, so we can all call each other names when we feel hard done by.
As an example the Crew from the 2005 Lions was awesome.
Stick around Derm, and drag in your compatriots. Look forward to the debate

You're teasing an experimental AI.
5 months of cliched comments, regurgitated drunken-pub-rugby/cricket-commentary, and bland... nothingness... just ... let it go. There there, yes... win the breakdown, earn the right to send it out wide, yes, yes... discipline at the crease, leave the good balls, hit the bad balls, yes, yes, ... well done everybody.
(And... to be fair... it's great. It's kinda cool having those blank spaces when reading a thread... it's kinda like a rest in the conversation when somebody's bint girlfriend insists on reading the horoscopes... before smiling, patting her on the head, and then continuing.) -

Another Irish fan here. Can't wait for this tour to get underway.
Main worries for Ireland are lack of depth at loosehead, half back and out half. We have lots of good 9's in the Irish provinces to back up Gibson Park but Farrell insists on sticking with Conor Murray. Then there's Casey who can be too impulsive and resorts to box kicking too often like Murray. If Sexton gets Injured we're gone.
A few Irish names for kiwis to look out for during the series that you might not be familiar with:
Dan Sheehan - hooker. 23 year old who has been starting for Leinster since Kellehers injury. Massive unit, very physical and accurate with his throws. Himself and Kelleher (who is out injured) are two of the most promising young lads in Irish rugby.
Gavin Coombes - 8. At 24 he's been in and around the squad for a while but yet to crack the first XV due to injuries. Another big lad at 6'6" and a very dynamic ball carrier.
James Hume - centre. Arguably most in form centre in Ireland. He's been Ulster's best player for much of the season.
Jordan Larmour - wing/fullback. Very elusive runner, his change of pace and footwork send a lot of would be tacklers to the floor - well worth a quick YouTube.

of course i want us to win, win well, and show serious improvement in a number of areas
But by fuck it will be good for the World Cup if the Irish go real well here. Take one test, and the other two are a shitfight. And that oges equally for France and England on their tours.
