@bones 😋 We all play favorites......

Oh he's definitely got his upsides! Just not sure accuracy is one of them...this is the same guy you could count on last season for 2-3 handling errors a game and the occasional wayward chip/kick? Not to mention linking....

ALB would be next if There was a injury or loss of form.

ALB is a world-class midfielder. I wouldn't drop him just to put Reiko, who's still pretty green at 13, together with a winger untested at international level .

Why not Reiko has been at centre most of last season.
Got to try new players sometime Leicester deserves a chance IMO.

Because in Test footy against the likes of Ireland, you don't drop one of your best 4-5 players to give a slot to someone who might deserve a chance.

Stick Leciester in the 23 by all means to give him a run, but don't build the backline around a inexperienced winger.

I am liking Jodie at 12. I have a number of reasons. First, he is very physical and seems to know the defense nuances at 12. Second, his usual one brain explosion per game can be covered at 12 much easier at 12 than 15. As well, we have one of the premium attacking players at 15 (Jordan) who is a very accurate player. In addition, B. Barrett plays much better with a big physical 12 to straighten if things go south and they know each other well 🧐

Be good to see him at 12 more with the Canes and then some time at 12 in the last 20 of a Test to see how he goes. I'm ambivalent as he has developed into a world-class 15 and I'd rather him there than as an average 12.

@bones Arrr .......the old Silverfern linking myth. Don't know where that comes from. Watch any Crusaders game or the ABs game where Akira ran rampant against the Wobs on his side of the wing. Apart from the odd white line fever incident that maybe sticks in a few minds, one of his strengths as far as I can see.

I didn't think it was a tsf thing, thought it was just me that banged that drum. He's been much better this year but it was exasperating last year so hopefully he carries on this curve.

I didn’t say build a backline around him just add him into the backline.
Anyway that’s what I would like to see.
Not likely go see ALB for maybe most of the season if the rumours are true about the same shoulder gone within 6 months.

You're dropping a key player and re-arranging most of the backline to give him a chance. It's a bit like dropping Aaron Smith from the 23 as Perofeta deserves a chance and combines well with Christie.

Give new players a go by all means and re-jig the midfield, but only after key players like ALB has been subbed and the game isn't at a critical stage

I don't agree I would like to see that Backline out there.
    Time for some changes.

Nah. Always pick our best players. Leave experiments to the last 15-20 minutes or against smaller teams. Ask Henry Paul.

Doesn't sound like Jordie will be shifting to 12 for the ABs anytime soon.

On the other hand it wasn't long ago that Fozzie was pretty dismissive of Rieko playing in the midfield so things can change.

The headline below is rather click-baity

while New Zealand head coach Ian Foster admits watching Barrett at inside centre again has made for interesting viewing, it has no impact on his plans for the All Blacks.

“Has it piqued my interest? I’m always interested in what teams are doing. Jordie and I have spoken about it,” Foster told the New Zealand Herald.

“If it’s the right thing for the team we understand that but it probably doesn’t change our plans too much.

“He goal-kicked so well, his high-ball stuff is very good. He’s got a strong kicking game and they were things he was able to exhibit through the year.

“Particularly when you get to the Northern Hemisphere style you have to have the ability to deal with that high ball and make sure you’ve got a strong kicking game in your back three.

“He ticked those boxes. He wasn’t at his best against France but the rest of the tour I thought he was one of our success stories.”

@chris Shit news for him. Bloody injuries!

Sounds like he may be playing NPC for Waikato at the business end of the comp. to get ready for the Northern tour.

When you look at the injuries we've had to Goodhue. Crotty & SBW, it makes you realise how lucky we were to have two players like Ma'a & Conrad who were not only world class for years on end, but stayed remarkably injury-free.

We sure were lucky they stayed virtually injury free. All that time playing together for the Canes made them one of the best combos we ever had.

A fair few injuries with the Canes, but apart from a broken hand he was pretty injury free AB-wise compared to what we've had since. That or my memory is buggered...

Seems midfield is where we seem to get a lot of players getting broken, so makes it hard to get combos doesn't it. I must admit I was keen to see if RTS and Reiko could strike up some kind of partnership that could go somewheer, but RTS lasts one game and I doubt whether he going to have enough time to do much now . We lost Goodhue and seemingly Goodhue/ALB was preferred midfield combo, now Goodhue coming right ALB gone. Are we going to have to end up with a midfield of last men standing??
