You absolutely have to respect the Saders.
Almost all weeks this is a great call. I'm not sure it is this week. Landers handed that W to Crusaders.
Mitch Hunt did.
But when the Saders got a chance, they’d find their GOOJFC - steal a re-thrown line out, get a guy over the ball to make a steal, time your attack on the HB.

@crucial Josh Ioa… oh wait.
How quickly people forget how shit ioane got, he made hunt look like the best option for a good 12 months

Well done Crusaders. Holding on against the odds and playing to the letter of the law vastly better. Far too many errors from Highlanders midfield. Why oh why did Fakatava not grubber and chase when he got isolated after a great run? Blackadder was superb while other forwards looked ponderous. And Reece was great too.

I thought it was going to be a hiding so I’m nothing more than disappointed with how close we got
We’ll done to the saders, easy to point all the faults with people but we had a lot of ball and territory and they managed to hang on, that take it’s own kind of skill
I’ll take Winning when playing poorly over failing to win when given every chance

Pretty average display from a pretty average Crusaders against the bottom side at home. They're there for the taking if anyone's good enough.
-
Bitch Hunt played like he used to for Canterbury. A. Smith had one of his A. Smith bad-decision-making (tm) nights bigtime. Tony Brown's parties always suck.
Sevu Reece was top value, but because Will Jordan only got the ball about 3 times MOM goes to Future All Black Captain Ethan Blackadder.

@arhs thought Fletcher Newall was good while he was on the paddock ,looks one for the future Usually there’s a certain inevitability that the Crusaders will run over the top of the visiting team when playing at home but it never eventuated
It looked like one team who was throwing everything at the game but lacking the polish or the accuracy to get the job done
And a home team that was nowhere their best but still somehow hung on to win .
For all its closeness I found it a very poor game in terms team activation especially in and around the backline play -

By being played out of position or not at all? I'm pretty sick of Hunt now, his 40% garbage, 40% average, 10% Nice and 10% FML just isn't worth it. Can't we try Smith or Fakatava at 10?
Kicking the ball away aimlessly and constantly really doesn't help - what's up Tony?
Nice of the ref to make it 15v15 on the field for the last few minutes though....

I hope Scott Robertson or Jason Ryan has Kianu Kereru-Symes on speed dial.
He was around the squad pre season. He must be getting a call up.

On the plus side - if we're looking to replace Bridge in the AB's with a similar style but more effective player - Gilbert is handy eh?
Havili looks good alongside a proper power centre.
It must be worrying for Mounga's coaches when teams devise whole plays just to target him, Makalio looked pretty happy about it (while also looking like he may have a heart attack any moment).
