The following quote from Chris Gibbes in the below article suggests a few players are making their return this weekend: "The guys are fit and healthy and we have some guys coming back from long-term injuries too, so, we're in a pretty good space," he said.
From their Instagram: TJ Perenara, Isaia Walker-Leawere, Tei Walden, Scott Scrafton and Cam Roigard all look to be training fairly freely so we might see some OR all of them suit up for MP on Friday.
Bad news is that it looked like Devan Flanders was doing a light workout with the injured duo of Owen Franks and Tyler Laubscher, hopefully nothing too serious.

@nepia yeah that's why it was mitigated down.
Yet some on this thread are calling for a red card.
That's how it's being applied in the NH. Pointing this out doesn't mean people agree with the direction the governing body has taken.
That people think such a tackle in 2022 shouldn't merit a card at all is fucking baffling.

Fair enough.

@canes4life canes should just play smarter and they'd be well ahead.
As to the head clash card, the rules around that are poor, players adapting to these poor rules that have been about for ages is poor.
Probably because the law application guidelines change about every other year.

I love this conversation from the coms about how if the guy showed duty of care, he would have missed the tackle. Isn’t that exactly the point? Wouldn’t the game be better if defenders needed to have better technique or get a break?

Sam Slade has been way better than I expected. Always thought he was too small for lock and too slow for six. He's been putting in some good collision work.
With both those attributes I'm surprised he doesn't have a Canes contract.

@stargazer what laws around head contact has been changed recently? Head contact has been a big deal for years now.
-
@taniwharugby Not the laws. The law application guidelines. So the processes for interpreting and applying the laws.

The framework came into play in 2019...

MP have been competitive in the 1st half in every game, but because they do so much defending because of discipline and setpiece issues, they don't have the energy to stay in the fight in the 2nd half.
A little more accuracy and discipline in their defence and they wouldn't make it so much easier for the opposition.
If they stopped putting themselves under pressure they could win this.
-
@stargazer yes but that has been an issue with loads of rules, not just this.
