@mariner4life Should have stayed in bubbles in Qtown.
-
mmmm, play on a club park in front of zero people?
Or play in stadiums in front of kiwis absolutely feral for any taste of home having been locked out of the country for 2 years
oh yeah, and you get to actually play games.
real sophies choice moment that one
wait, that's without the benefit of playing the comp the way it was intended

A 5 pm Friday night KO in Aust might be like playing in front of zero people anyway.

So play two games at the same time and we each watch what we want?
The schedules are set so games from Aust follow games from NZ on a Friday and Saturday.

i believe currently the schedule is set so you can watch nothing because absolute everyone has covid
we have enough timezones in Aus to make it work

@kiwiwomble They have improved very quickly.
Now they need to move on from Baden Kerr. Watching him is actually sad at this point.
They were scraping the barrel signing him. I honestly thought he was going to retire or play NPC only as he was setting himself up in Real Estate in the Pukekohe region, next minute I read he is off to OZ . Not a fullback either.

@mariner4life covid and Fozzie, the perfect storm for NZ Rugby's drop to mediocrity.

Covid gives Foster the excuse matrix ready to deploy

@arhs There might be that many playing up north but the number who are actually starters or even in the match day 23s are surprisingly low in the Gallagher Premiership, United Championship and Top 14. There are probably plenty playing professionally in places like Spain, Portugal, Sri Lanka and even Russia but those guys would not go within cooee of Super Rugby. Even those playing the The States are mostly NPC standard with a bit of a mix of both in Japan. You can discount those in Romania as, sadly, they did not get paid so technically are not professionals.
Incidentally here is an article showing where you might earn a bit of coin playing rugby in the world. This excludes one particular club in Wellington that is whispered to have a fairly large inducement involved when playing for it!

The Fijian Drua and the Fiji Rugby Union have sacked Serupepeli Vularika for unexplained disciplinary reasons. Vularika will return to Fiji and discuss future opportunities with the Fiji Rugby Union.
Drua CEO Brian Thorburn said: “The foundation of a successful professional team are the values that underpin it. We set very high standards for our players, management and staff in this regard. All of us at the Drua are expected to live up to our values and adhere to these standards. We are disappointed to have to make this decision today regarding Seru, but it is in the best interest of our Club.”

Maybe only 1 game this weekend
-
@machpants we'll still loose
-
@machpants I'm slightly confused by this:
The only positive news for Super Rugby Pacific is New Zealand preparing to welcome Australian travellers without any isolation requirements from April 13 – a move that will allow all trans- Ta$man sport to resume normality.
What normality when New Zealand is so incompetently dealing with this in 2022 they're unable to field teams? I'm now revising my previous position and agree that the competition should've been held in Australia.
-
@antipodean even if they only had a spattering of fans in the stadiums, no different to the limited numbers we are allowed here.
NZ Rugby is getting reemed by Covid and these rules.
-
@taniwharugby The MoH seem to be indicating that crowds (20% capacity) would now be allowed in outdoor settings. That would be in line with the cricket.
So reading that article, the only possible game could be MP vs Chiefs in Dunedin.
