Italy v Scotland

Good old Scotland.
Promising a lot yet again but destined for a mid to bottom table finish by the looks.
Touching on what @Bones said about Hogg it looks to me like he has bulked up a bit in the wrong way and lost a bit of pace and sharpness ? could also be age as many brilliant attackers lose it as they get older.
Still arguably Scotlands best ever fullback depending on where Gavin Hastings and Andy Irvine sit in the equation.

I can only go by what the old man told me about Irvine but he sounded brilliant. Gav was one of my very first Rugby heroes when the Lions team came and trained at College in 93. Had a massive presence about him and I loved the way he could scatter defenders with his running ( he wouldn’t be quick enough for the modern game though )

A lady never tells.
Until she’s on Jeremy’s show.

Well you’re never in the mood anymore @Bones, I wore that lingerie and you didn’t even give me a second glance. Who can blame me for straying ?

I saw a bit of Andy Irvine at the back end of his career and he was still a cut above most. Hastings too was a great player but a little more fallible IMO.

Even with a bunch of bloody good players ( Jeffrey, Sole, Calder, his brother, Armstrong etc ) he always stood out.

"the in goals are so big you could have a picnic in them"
If ever that phrase looked stupid. What kind of fucking picnics do you have Miles?
Big ones obviously
I hope he invites Foster. Hur hur
Foster fat jokes aren’t allowed. I’ve reported you so I’d imagine a ban is imminent
May be meeting up with him soon for an update on his diet and his plans for the 2022 AB season. Watch this space

And of course you’d have to admit that Hansen was no stranger to the knife and fork.
At least it wasn't the "Drink Yourself Slim" diet

I’ve tried to help him but he can only help himself.
@Bones still thinks he’s the fleet footed winger who tore up the pitches in Eastbourne back in the day.
Aw hang on, you mean Foster ?

Irvine was one of my first Lions heroes. Really, really good - a mercurial attacker who was seriously quick and could shred a defence almost at will. Very good defensively esp. in the wet. Bloody good bloke as well by all accounts.
Hastings wasn't quite as dashing but was a bit more solid and consistent - and a great captain who always seemed to get the best out of his team.
Hogg is up there though.

Italy's last ten minutes give hope for the future. Their tiny replacement fullback has a beautiful step. Two tries on debut is not that bad, despite a big miss when he came in. Their loose forwards are good but they'll have to find a better front five. Maybe among their U20s ?

@cgrant think he missed 3 pretty crucial tackles before finally getting into the positive down the other end.
When a team is playing the Scots it’s natural for panic to set in
"Who's going to pay for the beers afterwards?!?"
