Massive win for the Blues squad. Have to go deep in some of the positions for that game.

If I was a Highlanders fan I would be questioning some of Brown's decisions. Hunt is a midget so putting him at fullback is just asking for trouble. Remember the end of the North-South game?

Also, Ofa was shit. No way you'd want him in the ABs.

Even Browny has effectively said he’s an assistant, he wants to come up with moves and patterns, he only took the job because no one else wanted it and he cares about the team and figured he was better than someone completely out of their depth

We’re just seeing the proof now

I'm not sure how much more Brown can do. Landers just don't have the cattle

@bovidae Yeah but we're hardly blessed at tighthead. Laulala is an automatic because he's the best scrummager by a mile even if he offers nothing else, so Ofa kind of keeps his spot by default, with the equally ill disciplined/average scrummaging Tyral Lomax competing for his spot. Ta'avao is even worse than those two and he's next cab off the rank so yeah, that's all we really have these days.

@kiwimurph Exactly. It's virtually a decent NPC side out there with Aaron Smith.

NZ rugby really would have benefitted with Folau Fakatava going to the Crusaders.

@african-monkey And Ainsley took a step backwards this week. Hodgman's stocks went up after struggling against Mafileo the week before. No props are really standing out.

@bovidae Moody also isn't getting any youger, Bower is barely Super Rugby level and Tu'inukuafe is awful around the paddock for a benchie. He either starts or doesn't play. Moody/De Groot/Hodgman are probably our 3 best looseheads.

@african-monkey I mean the previous couple seasons it's been Aaron ft an npc level backline of Collins, Joane , sio + a gun in Nareki & on their day they'd gel pretty well compared to what's going on this yr🙁

Someone’s got to be a Blues fan. We get TJ and colour from cantabs and chiefs for our games.

@kiwiwomble It's how us Blues fans felt throughout the 2010s.

And Crusader fans in 1996 and 1997.

Just watching now, haven't read the thread.

First Clarke takes out CGB in the air by realising he's not going to make it so jumping early to take it, then BOK blatantly lies saying DP didn't call the shot! Fuck me.

Second piece of dirty play to take a player out by CC in 2 years isn't it? Lucky this one wasn't permanent.

Also great to see Gregory and Hunt returning to the form that launched them to shithouse depths a couple of years ago. At least Gregory isn't supposed to be a kicker, Hunt why the fuck can't you get a 5m lineout from the penalty kick when you're only just outside the 22? Awful.

Liking seeing the superb form of future stars of yesteryear like Perofeta, pretty to watch.

That blues aggressive defence to start the first half was very pretty too. Though thought Highlanders coped with it really well.

Is Perofeta the new Cruden? With the added bonus of covering fullback.

The haves and the have not

I know its only one game. But there does seem to be a gap opening up in rugby now even in New Zealand. Crusaders are full of talent. Blues are closing the gap. Whereas the Highlanders (and maybe Canes) are slipping behind. Then there is the gaps between NZ and Aussie sides. It will destroy SRP is something is not done about it. NZ could start by addressing the NZ situation. Unsure how it would be done though. But Crusaders winning again and 2 sides struggling to compete (MP and Highlanders) will even (further) harm NZ rugby

@winger what? Highlanders played awful for large periods of the match and were still within a try with 5 minutes to go.

    Get a grip.

Christ on a bike. Having Hunt at ten is like having a 14yo there.
