So it would be okay if Gayle asked her out in a way that wasn't dickish? If Gayle wasn't joking, it would be okay?

I think it would have been fine if Gayle spoke to her at a time when she wasn't working and asked her out as long as the two of them were alone.
-

If you are at the supermarket and ask out the checkout girl, you are a dick. The checkout girl has no power. She is at work and the customer is always right. What could Mel do? Tell Gayle to 'get fucked' on live television? Slap him? No she couldn't do that because she was working and had a job to do.

WTF? How are you a dick? Perhaps you should wait for her behind the supermarket until she finishes her shift. Yeah, that would be much better. Nothing weird about that.

It would take serious balls to ask a checkout girl out considering the odds of success are ridiculously low. It must be so terrible to be her. A guy thinks she's attractive and wants to ask her out. The swine. How could he do such a terrible thing.
-

These things are more difficult when you are woman.

You can do whatever you want. I'm just telling you what I think. I don't know where I have said that people should follow my code. Remember I was against Gayle being fined any money at all. I just think his actions made him look like a dickhead but I think he should have faced no repercussions for them.
-

Further to what hydro11 and the moral crusaders are getting at in my situation I was a pretty big cheese at telecom. I wore a suit and had a company credit card. Not quite earning millions playing IPL but still way further up the ladder than a lowly hospo worker.

In retrospect I did abuse my power. Hugely. I'm hunting this chick down to apologise for the trauma of the last 12 years.
-

That post is "damn near spit coffee over the monitor" funny Hooroo, brilliant.
-

these young fluffybunnies these days have no idea how easy they have it. In my day we had to actually sack up and approach girls. And if we hit a dry spell (so, you know, most of the time), we had to hire/buy porn.

Now? It's a fucking app on your phone, you can almost get laid with a swipe of the finger. And if for some reason it still doesn't work, that free porn comes right to your phone!

jesus, it really is a golden age
-

as for the second point have you ever heard of the term bunny boiler ?
-

When I was living in the UK and working in an Off-licence, I got asked out loads...mostly cougars, but that wasn't really a term back then, so they were just nice older chicks.

I am a big unit compared to a woman and I can honestly say that I don't think a woman has ever felt threatened into saying yes.

I've heard no often enough to back this up.

You're getting a bit silly with your reasonings now in my opinion
-
