    Walker-Leawere

    A few years ago, I thought he would have played for the All Blacks by now.

    I remember in a U20 game he chased down a winger. Someone with his size and speed should've kicked on. I'd say he is the best lock in NZ rugby over the ball - he gets a ridiculous number of turnovers.

    @bobily2
    He is a lock who could be helpful against the NH nations : strong and beefy.

    Are his turnovers from getting over the ball or holding players up off the ground? I notice the latter way more.

    That's a good question. I think I've seen a fair bit of both - though I don't really have any specific instances to back that up.

    Might be injury related, but I wonder if fitness has been an issue for Walker-Leawere? It might just be his body shape, but he didn't look like he was in great nick the last couple of years.

    He missed the entire Bunnings NPC and this states that he is out for the entire season if you can be bothered to scroll down to near the end of the article

    We got back into the match through our flair, then the Crusaders slowed the game down taking complete control in the set pieces, lost count how many bloody tries they scored driving over the line from lineouts inside our 22... our forward play has to be much better than the rubbish we showed tonight.

    you blokes showed enough I reckon,I am glad we got you out of the way early at least for the First one.
    I have a feeling you might give the Blues a run next week. The Blues are behind the ball with match fitness ( nothing beats match fitness you can train all you like but it doesn't match playing)
    Jordie Ardie and Amua will be better for the game time.

    Yeah, we did some good stuff, but the ongoing problem with our set pieces is a real worry, your team smashed us there, we scored some late tries to make the scoreboard look better, but we'd lost the match well before that... we should have the edge on the Blues with us having played a match, true, you can't simulate match practice.

    All the players were going to be a bit rusty in their first game, but thought Ardie was outstanding.

    Thought your 10 Burke had a top match, liked that when he was ever inside his 22 he would kick the ball out near halfway so you could go to a lineout & set your defence... when our 10 was inside his 22 he kicked aimlessly downfield allowing your blokes to attack from broken play, from one of those silly kicks your blokes managed to score a try.

    Big name players will stop us being totally useless, but set piece is very poor.

    Yeah, very fair point...
    The Crusaders tend to be much better drilled in the set pieces than all the other teams, which must play a big part in them winning all those Super titles... but it's also up to all the other sides to improve a lot more in those areas.

    How old is Burke ? ...our 10 Ruben Love is only 21, he's a brilliant running 10, has plenty of gas, but as you've seen he needs to work a lot on his general kicking game to guide the team around the field.
