Chris Gayle. Stay Classy

There's no suggestion people are saying he's a crap cricketer because he says some stupid sexist shit while working. I find the whole notion people can't be criticised based on their actions or utterances fucking odd.

In my opinion Chris Gayle has provided enough evidence to substantiate my judgement of him. -

I wouldn't be surprised to see more "interviews" with Gayle from various media outlets. He's click-bait gold.

He has built a strip club in his bedroom, and people get surprised that he treats females as objects?

Click bait is right, you know what you get with that guy. Great cricketer, but culturally a long way from modern western expectations.
-

Hang on, his book is call Six Machine. Awesome

It's a forum encouraging people to air their views

I simply see no validity or substance in such judgements so in the same way people will argue there is a god with just as little validity and substance, I think "why not keep that piece of information to yourself ?". "What use is that piece of information to anyone but yourself?"

People shouldn't 'run someone down.' However, I think we should be able to say that Gayle was rude and disrespectful in that interview and he has hardly made amends with his actions since then. If Gayle regrets his comments or thinks he has been misunderstood then you may have a point. Yet, it seems like Gayle stands by what he said
-

I've seen a painting of Trump. He's lying.
-

Fuck me theres some bullshit on this thread.

This interview was a 2000 word deal in the Times. Stuff took 5 lines out of contect to the interview & used them to make their usual 200-word written for retards click bait. The actual article is excellent and you get a great over vierw of Gayle. So you don't get stuff like -

Gayle grew up with nothing in a shitty part of Jamacia. Shared a bed with 4 brothers & had a dad who made him play cricket to avoid gangs.

I'm not a huge Gayle fan, but in the serialisation in the Times he comes across surpsisingly well. Even when discussing Blushgate (he also points out his daughter actually called Chrisalina, which is dumb, but not as dumb as Blush). The level of hipocracy was highlighted in the serialisation too. He notes Chris Rogers saying he led guys astray & then mentions that Chris Rogers was the one guy guarenteed to be out drinking with him. Or Chappell saying he should be banned, the same Chappell who was once arrested for assault in the carribean etc...

This whole thread is driving off an utterly bullshit 200 word quote fest that is garbage. While yes, Gayle is a tool & he attitude to women is not great (tho' no different from almost all top sportsmen), the driver of this thread is bollocks.
-

You missed the point of "spoilt children". It means those in life "at the top" so to speak, generally have little incentive to change unless they stand to lose something.

In Gayle's case, a hard core fan base, loads of women, money.....why change??

p.s. you must have been ranting hard, because your spelling has gone to shit.
-

The two main arguments being espoused on here seem to be:-

1. Chris Gayle displays sexist, misogynist views and seems a creep

and

2. The article and interview were a blatant put up, click bait job

The two are not mutually exclusive.
-

What really winds me up is that what Gayle seems to be guilty of is showing his true colours in public. As Gollum says, a number of top sportspeople treat women terribly. Ray Rice in an elevator, Todd Carney glassing his girlfriend, Kiwi rugby players smacking their wife - that sort of violence is a real issue. However, while that gets swept under the carpet, then we are free to manufacture some real outrage at relatively low level poor behaviour.

Have they heard of Wilt the Stilt? FFS, that guy has a section devoted to his love life (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wilt_Chamberlain#Love_life)

I'm with Catogrande on this one, but fark me I'm uneasy about running Gayle out of the game for this and letting some of the genuine misogynists play top level sports.
-

Ha, Wilt the Stilt.........supposedly dusts up 20,000 chicks and NOT ONE of them gets pregnant ? when ya do the maths on that it's over two chicks PER DAY.....and this is before Tinder was even invented.

I'm smelling complete bullshit on that one......
-

That was Greg Bird who glassed his missus. And blamed it on his mate. And got off when she changed her story. And is playing Origin next week.

Todd Carney is just a dumb drunk.
-

I can just picture Phil Gould crying on TV about how Bird was so stressed, so wound up by the pressure that he felt he had not choice but to alleviate the nagging the only way he knew how and subsequently blame his mate cos society had let him down by not showing him alternative outlets for his anger and aggression.
