Good 50 from Conway hopefully he goes on to 100 as well.
Defiantly a class Act Conway. His only real misstep in the BC was breaking his hand in the T20 semi
Yeah he been an awesome pick up for Us.
A couple of other SA around the domestic scene who are potential BC,s as well,
Personally I love watching Conway bat he is class. -

Well we lost the toss (yet afuckingain) but we've certainly responded to the challenge this time around. We are miles ahead of the game, and should be aiming to do all of our batting today and tomorrow, then give ourselves 3 days to bowl them out twice.
There is rain forecast for the final two days so we may need to accelerate even more tomorrow to make sure the rain doesn't play a factor. Could be an exciting day tomorrow if that is in fact the plan.

Christ on a bike Black Caps where the fuck was this shit in the first test ?
Wonderful stuff from all involved. Nice return from Latham after a shit first test and the other two just continue doing the biz at test level. Normal service has resumed, still furious it was disrupted like it was though, they should not have beaten us.

@chris I'm gonna sound unpopular and I don't even mind Latham, he's a decent opening bat but I'm not gonna lie, he's a minnow basher.
Give me Wright and Rigor any day.
He still has time to rack up hundies vs India and Oz.

He has 2 test hundreds v Pakistan , 1 v England when they were playing well.
He is still young so if he can get them against India and Australia maybe SA soon too.Still have to get them no matter who you play.

We've certainly edged a lot through and over slips.
Also, the only time Conway looks like getting out is when he tries to reverse sweep. Just needs to put that shot away.

You can get away with playing outside off if it’s slightly short at Hagley because of the pace and bounce.
I am sure it was a game plan to go hard it that area point and behind point,All the batsman have taken it on with hard hands today. -
349/1 after being put into bat. It doesn't get more dominant than that.
-
@chris Yeah I get that, but he's 63 tests deep now and we need more from him against these bigger sides.
I really want him to succeed (and he has to a degree), but its time for him to take his game to the next level in the next few years and go from a decent opener to a world class opener as he has all the tools to become world class, as he is just as accomplished on both the back and front foot. Has a tendency to lose concentration against the bigger sides at times where he gifts his wicket away.

He has “to a degree?” What more do you need ?
Currently sitting eighth on the list of best test batting average for the Black Caps, of all time……42.50…..bear in mind this is as an opener so it’s historically much tougher to get a high number than other positions. 12 test hundreds which is 4th equal…..( only KW, Crowe and Taylor clear of him )
30 years old and lots of years left…..yes he hasn’t scored big against some opponents but as someone else said look how historically shite so many of our openers have been. You can also pick and choose stats to talk up, or talk down any player.
Given we have Kane having the next Hobbs, Sutcliffe, Gavaskar or Hayden playing at the same time might be a stretch
He’s an absolute champ in my eyes.
-
@mn5 He's good enough to become a world class opener, so why be content with what He's done? I'm sure he himself knows this, and yes, stats don't lie, but they don't tell a full story either.
His record is similar to guys like Dean Elgar and Karunaratne, 2 guys who make the most of their limitations but aren't as good as Latham imo. Tamim Iqbal is in the same boat as Latham but his problem throughout his career has been a lack of a brain. Latham, as I said in an earlier post, has been lapses of concentration against bigger sides so far in his career.
My point is, is that guys like Latham and Iqbal should be averaging 45+ as they're both good enough to.
