@nostrildamus I could not get into The Mandalorian. Found it as boring as bat shit.
Do you have to be up with the rest of the Star Wars canon to appreciate it?I told my wife you didn't as I don't care about canon but still found it entertaining. Mrs Antipodean on the other hand would "leave me alone to my nerd stuff".
-
I get the western stuff I just find it ... lame.
Mind you I seem to find the target audience for Star Wars is around 9 year olds. Definitely pre-pubescent boys.

@dogmeat ouch...that feels like an unnecessary dig
pretty fair though
-
@kiwiwomble sorry didn't mean it nastily. I watch lots of shit that's juvenile in the extreme. Just never got into SW

I can't remember when I gave up on the Star Wars movies but it was a long time ago. I think I saw maybe one of the prequal movies.
Quite disappointing as Manalorian was the main reason I subscribed.
Well you do have to like Star Wars...
-
@dogmeat I went easy
It's definitely aimed at 10-15 year olds, but they have a great nostalgia payoff at the end of season 2. That's for us old fluffybunnies.
The final episode is some of the best TV i can remember, even had my wife and daughter watching by then and they could take or leave star wars.
After the terribly made sequels, just watching something well written and thoughtfully put together was a mild relief.
But it's all subjective, no worries if you and Machpants don't like it. You just might be a little dead inside

I gave up on Star Wars too, after Phantom Menace.
The Mandalorian starts kind of slow, from episode 4 it starts really lifting and Pedro Pascal plays it pretty lean (Kingsmen II, Great Wall, GOT, Wonderwoman 1984) so you may find him boring. But I like the cameos (Nolte as grumpy old imp etc) the landscapes, etc and near end of series 1 (especially the prison episode) if you approach it as E E Doc Smith type light soap opera playing with SW tropes I think it is watchable and each episode seems directed by different directors (some guy called Taika Waititi for instance) but conceived by the Iron Man guy, yeah. There's worse on tv/channel. Add a Red Dwarf writer and I'd be a happy camper. -

Imagine dragging a girlfriend along who is uneasy at this new development; realising her boyfriend is an avid Star Wars fan. Then making her sit through two of the prequels after (slightly) convincing her the first one wasn't a reflection on what I grew up with and would surely be fixed for Episode II. One of which she fell asleep in (Attack of the Clones). I waited until Revenge of the Sith was on DVD. By then we were married and she left me to witness what remained of my SW childhood be ruined.

Good riddance to short-arsed Tom Cruise. How the hell he ever thought he could pull off Jack Reacher is beyond me.
This dude looks just how Jack Reacher should look!
Nah, too beefcakey.
Drifter doesn't go to no gyms.
Massively better than Cruise though.
Could be entertaining if they stick to the lines of the earlier books. They have seriously jumped the shark these days.
They used to be feasible if not incredible but now they just consist of Reacher walking into a town, beating the shit out of everyone he doesnt kill, possibly having a root then moving on
Livin’ the dream
i thought he has just described a show i would absolutely watch the shit out of
Even Banshee had a little bit of plot.
i think i only watched one season. what i saw was the greatest show of all time. absolutely none of it made sense
but hot naked women and gratuitous violence were very big green ticks
Banshee is epic. Season 3 was pretty crap though.
I can get that the Mandalorian isn't for everyone. I think you can argue it's made out to be better than it actually is due to the terrible sequels. But some episodes and scenes are great, as are the characters they introduce. The Luke cameo alone cancels out any of the meh factor.

@roninwc I liked the look of Invasion but had seen many poor reviews, so was gonna wait until done and binge it.
I can understand why early reviews have been negative, because I have to admit, I struggled with eps 2-4 but 5-8 have been much better and now I understand the first few eps much better with the story and plot being drip fed throughout the eps.
One of those series where the whole is much better than the parts, especially the first 3-4 eps.
I was the opposite. Enjoyed Eps 1-6 which had some great plots and characters but thought it fell away badly after that and the whole thing, esp. the action scenes, became really repetitive and unoriginal.

Fucken slow burner though eh! I decided I'd give it 3 episodes but it's been a hard slog...
True Story. Yeah finished it and despite the flat ending it's pretty good. Felt like watching a movie - and probably a Guy Ritchie one.

Forget trying to convert them, just leave them to their empty, Star Wars devoid lives.

Fair call and I wouldn't disagree.
Waiting on Friday for the last episode to drop and then will binge the last two back to back.
