Wales v Fiji

@mikethesnow Isn't that the law trial? 20-minute red cards, then a replacement player coming on?

@stargazer said in Wales v Fiji:
I disagree with the "force" bit and with the red. Fortunately, it's only for 20 minutes.
It was clumsy, but hardly cynical.Problem is geographic consistency. That's a red just about every time in the NH, but not in the south. Whatever the decision it's going to cause angst and cries of inconsistency.
Great shame for the match though.

Not being played up here I don’t think

That’s fucking horseshit quite frankly
There was zero need for him to hit Williams for the second time.
He did
He hit the head with force to a player who couldn’t defend himself
And paid the price
Deservedly
If you think that action is acceptable and defensible then the SH has problems now and will be fielding lawsuits down the line which will cripple their unions.
-
@mikethesnow Ah yes, you're right. The NH nations didn't want it. That's why it was only used in the Rugby Championship.
That's a pity. Game ruined.
-
@mikethesnow I disagree it was with force. It was stupid from the Fijian player, no doubt, and he deserved a card, but if there was force, why didn't the Welsh player go off for a HIA?

Jesus
It wasn’t passive
He went for afters
Williams obviously has a metal head

Oh I'm not defending him or arguing against a red, just pre-empting the comments I'm expecting from Antipodeans that it was a BS decision.
Totally agree that the SH needs to catch up and realise that smashing heads isn't an essential part of the game. Don't know what it's like in NZ, but on Aus TV just about every card for a high hit is taken as a sign that the game's gone soft. I blame league.
Edit: by shame for the game I just mean I'd rather see 15v15, not that the decision was wrong

@mikethesnow I prefer 20 minute red cards. Full game red cards should be reserved for the really bad stuff, like biting, punching (the intentional stuff).
Anyway, I'm done with this match now and going to bed. Not worth watching anymore.

About time, a little flair
Wales 16-13 Fiji
39 mins -
@mikethesnow LOL, 15 v 13 players.
-
That was some of the worst back line passing you’re ever likely to see.
No try

That’s not our problem
You play what’s in front of you
He saw the gap and hit it
A much better decision than trying to bulldoze our way over

All good. I'm more concerned about the miserable standard of Welsh play, really poor so far. Let's see if a break to reset their heads helps.

It’s shit
If we get a man sent to the bin we could lose this
Wales 14-16 Fiji
44 mins -
There are 4 year olds in nursery school who can draw a man better than the Welsh back line
-
Another YC at least
How didn’t they look at that hit on Tompkins?
