While NZ sides by and large play the same style of footy, I mean for years our front row was only reading from the Cron book of scrummaging.
But I think the Crusaders have largely tried to play thier own way (more often good than bad) and often get criticised for it, but they play to win...kiwi fans have been lead down the path that winning ugly ain't the best way to win.
Hopefully Schmidt with his NH experience will give the blues another dimension, given it is a team chock full of runners, if they can get thier pack humming they could be awesome.
Is Gats back this year, to focus on the Chiefs now? He doesn't become a shit coach, but he needs to be involved, hands on not by zoom...zoom meetings suck.
So right now things are pretty shit, but hopefully the clouds look to be parting slightly and a glimmer of blue sky creeping through for super rugby to be a bit more of a breeding ground...then these good players end up in black aaaanndd...
We used to own the final quarter, even when behind we more often came back, now our bench is more often than not a big step down, less cohesion, no impact, full disruption.

IMO Farrell is an excellent defense coach. Which is a bit surprising given how his son tackles.No. They stopped playing the Schmidt way at the end of the last 6 nations against England. Farrell tore up the Schmidt script and got them playing with pace and moving the ball more.

the fundamentals are still there. Great tackle/ruck technique, rush defence, structure. It's impressive.

As to the result - well done Ireland... throroughly deserved, definitely the better team.
Except Johnny Sexwithoutcock - fuck him. What a fluffybunny. Or, should I say, "He's a bit of a mouthy fluffybunny, isn't he?".
I liked the ref telling the waterboys and what-not to get the fuck off the field near the end, as well as (usually) telling Sexless to shut-the-fuck-up. But - not always, and without any teeth to backup the bark.
And - that yellow card... WTAF? -

Both coming back from offseasons; Retallick in particular I back ot get back to fitness. Super next year should be interesting to see who really gets galvanised by this.
in some ways, this is the post-nut clarity of losing so many legends in 2015. The dropoff has been massive
It’s been too slow - we needed this to happen sooner so that it was only one World Cup that got written off. The re build won’t happen until 2024 now

@rancid-schnitzel that’s why they need forwards running off the rucks for about 5 minutes (hyperbole) until we make inroads then the 1st five can have the ball.

We've been here many times before. AB teams that were great with ball in hand against lightweight opposition who folded when presented with a physical committed opponent. We need to get harder, more direct before we spin it wide. Time for a little ugly ball again

@no-quarter I agree but the problem is there’s were a couple times when he came on he seem to be alone and was isolated. Not his problem but I think our ineffectual pack does not know how to graft around the rucks. I would have picked him.

Seem to remember it happening to us in NZ as well - try to ?Speight? called back after it was rulled DHP had run Savea off his line.
Only took the Sky OB director three replays on the big screen to get the TMO involved 😉
In all seriousness, it isn't a good look for anyone and shows that replays are a double edged sword. Against England, Samu gets done after a replay for a high tackle.
Ok.
The week before at Murrayfield, Alaalatoa got done for his clumsy cleanout. But in the ball carrier action right before he got done, there was a clear high tackle from Scotland, pretty much identical to Samu. No action taken.
I don't want the game to become grid iron.
