    Another baffling selection by Eddie:-

England: Steward; Tuilagi, Slade, Farrell (capt) May; Smith, Youngs; Genge, George, Sinckler, Itoje, Hill, Lawes, Underhill, Curry.

Replacements: Blamire, Rodd, Stuart, Ewels, Dombrandt, Simmonds, Quirke, Malins.

So we drop our most exciting winger and put Manu there, which has been tried before and didn't work and when there was never a real suggestion from anyone that it would work. Farrell back at 12 with Smith at 10. Good to see Smith starting and I can understand Farrell at 12 but then either put Manu at 13 or on the bench.

Our joint best 7 goes to 8 again with two 8s on the bench. Seriously WTF is going on Eddie?

he has form choosing 7s at 8.

Yes and in this case it is perfectly valid: wallabies need fast ball. Do everything you can to slow that down.

With Jaco holding the whistle, the rucks will be "sort-it-out-yourself-bru"

Ah that's a grand story. Sure, his selection is the result of happenstance, but he's still there and still going to sing the anthem, whatever happens.

Hoskins confirmed on Twitter his parents are landing 5AM Saturday to attend the game.

    How good?

@nta That's the sort of thing that used to happen in the amateur era. Richard Loe, for example, was called into the ABs on their 1986 tour of France as he was playing club rugby there.

Yes that’s a valid point but then you have Lawes at 6. Now don’t get me wrong he’s been pretty good there for the Lions as well as England but being a legal nuisance at ruck time is not high on his CV. If you had Curry and Undehill on the flanks with Dombrandt at 8 you’d have a more balanced back row and lose none of the jackalling aspect. Moreover, your go forward is improved hugely. You maybe lose a bit in the line out but that’s it. Gives you more flexibility on the bench too.

Genge out with the Rona, that’s a big loss. Rookie to start and rookie on the bench. Evens things up slightly given Aussie‘s problems.

@catogrande will be less of an impact given Arnold was awful in the second row for us last week at scrum time. That was our main issue.

Marcus Smith looks like a Lesbian. Not necessarily a bad thing these days, I guess.

No it was a bit obscure esp at this time of the morning.
This game is an interesting battle of hairstyles.
And good to see decent box kicking.

I think I will retire, the English backline now pass more fluidly than the ABs. I am sad.
