T20 World Cup 2021

My rant earlier about squad make up. Is actually irrelevant as only replacement could be keeper. So can only be Seiffert.
As for outside of squad, yes Latham an option, but not part of our T20 plans over years, and I do like our test openers not spreading their time too thinly.
So, I retract.

T20 again shows the coin toss nature of the game, although some great power hitting from Wade at the end, it was no surprise to me that Pak would cave under finals pressure and in this case the dropped catch ensued.
My NZ to lose to Aus in the final outlay at the TAB looking juicy especially with Conway gone. However a bit like @MN5 , I am more annoyed about his lack of availiablity for tests than anything else. Bah now we look screwed for final and tests.
Having to rely on Siefert and Phillips gives me no confidence, nor on Guppy's footwork to Aus pace attack.
Ok bowlers, looks like you will have to do all the work again!

Chapman could play and Phillips could keep.
I agree on the squad though, too many all rounders who are not a legit threat with the bat and insufficient cover for an injury to a legitimate batsman like Kane/Guppy/Conway.
This is where Ross Taylor needs to jet over there for an Alfie Langer moment.

Takes me back to when Dipak Patel, Shane Thomson and Justin Vaughan were playing.

Pretty awesome finish from Aus, to do it with an over to spare was insane in the end. And the fact that it was Wade doing the hitting - even more remarkable.
Defending totals is proving extremely difficult in this tournament, even when the side batting first puts runs on the board. Bring on the final and let's hope like fuck we win the toss. Beating Aus would be extremely sweet, and would mean we have beaten England, India and Aus in the last 3 ICC trophy finals (I just choose to ignore the ICC awarding the CWC to England despite losing on wickets).
The Black Caps being the best side in the world across all formats is extremely difficult to wrap my head around. What a golden age we are in right now.

I've watched it live and just watched a replay and that was something else from Wade. Talk about not being rattled about being dropped and making hay! That middle six was massive.
I'm ultra pleased for Shoiab Akthar!! Tool!
Am gutted for the poor soul who dropped Wade though. That will haunt you for a very long time I imagine.
I admire your confidence that he has any life expectancy at all once he gets back to Pakistan.

This meme was on the same post as the image above. Let's hope it's not taken too literally by some of the fans...

Chapman was probably the biggest surprise to me in our squad.
I think Seifert has to play and we just have to play with freedom and hope that our big guns come off.
Devon is a big big loss though, because he's basically Kane Mk II. He should have pulled a Richie and not got his hand scanned - just play son!
For India (tests) - does Will Young open - or can Blundell open and keep wicket? Or do we call someone up to fulfil one of those roles (opener or keeper).
For the first time in our history we can sustain a loss of this magnitude with a credible alternative.
-
TAB has Oz $1.65 NZ $2.15
Realistic, I think.
Would have been significantly closer to evens if Conway was playing, but man-for-man now, we don't win in many places.
Guppy = Finch
Williamson > Marsh
Neesham = Stoinis
Boult = Starc
Sodhi > Maxwell/Stoinis as a 5th bowlerWe're significantly brighter than Australians, so there's that to fall back on!

This one falls on the shoulders of our bowlers IMO.
Convicts are stacked with players that swing hard at anything in their zone. Itβs up to our guys to not be cute with slow balls but to put the ball into areas that arenβt in their swinging arc.
THEN we need to bat well.
Oh, and win the toss. -

@donsteppa yeah well KP is just a giant fuckhead so it's very easy to ignore anything that he produces.
Yep. Mate of mine took his cricket-mad & Pieterson-mad son down to Southampton to watch Warne & Pieterson play. They waited outside the dressing room with about 20 other kids and Pieterson simply barged thru, ignoring them and went straight to his car. Warnie spent 30 minutes with the kids, signing everything in sight and giving an impromptu coaching session.
But that's the difference between a dickhead and a genuine cricket great.
I had a mate who had to chaperone Warnie for some promotional work. Said he was a great guy - really easy to get on with. An awesome commentator as well. Cocky of course.

You guys found a keeper who can bat yet ?
Maybe....
Your ability to remember crap like this makes me wonder if you are Nicola The Aussie

Let's face it: the lack of subtlety from @MN5 makes it pretty easy to remember his attempts at shitposting.

Having reflected a bit overnight, I think last night was the worst possible result for the BCs. We already have a bit of a mental block against the Aussies, it's not a great matchup for us as they're strengths negate a lot of our strengths relative to the other teams (bowling and fielding mainly), and we're now without one of our top 3 batsmen - a guy who's a bit of tweener between Guptill's all or nothing hard hitting and Kane's more measured approach.
But the "out of nowhere" nature of Straya's victory last night, IMO, will give them much more confidence and belief than a complete demolition would have. Importantly, the weaker links in their team will now be full of confidence and belief, but the top order will also now feel they have a bit more freedom to play aggressively, knowing that the middle order guys have the minerals to see them home if necessary.
The same can obviously be said for us, but Dev was a big part of our rescue op on Wednesday and our tail is much longer than the Aussies'. Plus, they have more hitting power throughout their batting lineup. We have historically struggled with their pace and bounce, while their have struggled with our and others' swing at times. It might just come down to a battle of the spinners where maybe - just maybe - we have slight advantage. Ish seems like he could be a pivotal figure, whatever the outcome.
What does this all mean for Sunday? Probably nothing, but I'll probably be there watching and having been there also in 2015 clearly I'm on the descent of the pre-match emotional rollercoaster and so need to let off some steam
