@act-crusader although there was no super rugby to 'skip' for ABs then.

Wasnt he a fan of Harding around then, who many had touted for a long career.

Maybe Josh Blackie rather than Harding?

Remember a lot of people questioning DC's selection in early 2015 on the basis he was too old to get his form back and we needed to give other 10's match experience before RWC2015.

I was sort of there, not because of form, but because I seriously worried about his ability to stay match fit. As it was, it was Cruden who broke.

And Dan Carter's form dropped off a cliff in 2016, so some of the naysayers were merely wrong by a year.

@chester-draws he retired from the ABs after 2015 so his 2016 form in France is irrelevant really.

Might have been his best game in black. He did everything that was asked of him and more, without the brain farts that have plagued him in the past

I'm going to allow myself a farking great portion of smug satisfaction. His class was always there but for whatever reason some were willing to write him off age 19. It just goes to show that players mature, develop and improve. Writing anyone off that young is simply idiotic.

It's particularly ironic that of the 2 players who were written off as "shit" very young, one is now the captain and the other played a blinder and saved the game last week.

I think generally , we( the public ) go too early writing young players off ,

Nonu was probably the one that stands out the most for me , man didnt he prove some people wrong

Kaino was another one that was written off and then, all of the sudden, he became quite good, right around the time he turned about 25...

Loosies tend to mature in their late 20s ,

That’s why I’m a big fan off what hoskins might become , so much time on his side to develop , and has skills and vision you can’t teach .

All Blacks captain Ardie Savea will continue to lead the side as they prepare for their northern hemisphere tour on Queensland's Sunshine Coast.

Coach Ian Foster said with Sam Cane, Sam Whitelock, Dane Coles and Shannon Frizell meeting up with the All Blacks in Washington their readiness to play would be assessed before any captaincy change was considered.

“At the moment, we're going to stay with the status quo,” Foster said. “...so, Ardie will carry on leading this team in the short-term future but then once we get to Washington and Wales, we'll make some assessments about where the other guys are, then we'll let people know.”

With locks Scott Barrett and Patrick Tuipulotu returning home, after securing places in the MIQ lottery, the way was open for Taranaki bolter Josh Lord to join Brodie Retallick, Tupou Vaa'i and Sam Whitelock as the locks for the trip.

Foster said Lord was a young player with a lot of promise who had impressed the selectors when doing their rounds of the Super Rugby sides.

"He's very athletic and we saw this as an opportunity to grow a young player for the future. He's got the physical attributes that we think are right, and it's a chance to get him on this tour and start working with him," he said.

It wasn't a new ploy by the All Blacks as Jerome Kaino, Isaia Toeava and, Asafo Aumua were examples of what former coach Sir Graham Henry described as 'special projects' on past tours.

There was a temptation to include another lock but, with Frizell, they felt they had sufficient cover.

Vaa'i would have an increased role with the side, and Foster was confident of his ability to handle that.

They were resigned to halfback Aaron Smith not joining them, but such was the situation that it was a case of 'never saying never', he said.

I hope the captaincy Changes once they get to the NH.
Not Ardie ahead of Whitelock or Cane if he is up to speed.

@chris I hope the continual selection of Chiefs players changes, is Foster aware there are other players from other team that deserve to make the ABs.

    Hopefully that'll change?
During the RWC... I think Michael Leitch endorsed it? And we constantly just referred to it as "Leitch-Michael" - downing a bottle every hungover morning.

So between this, INEOS and Altrad, why do they need to partner with Silver Lake?

Sure is, last point was reducing the amount of the stake, tired too a higher valuation. Less money, no 'legacy fund', but looks like that could be the go

The whole Japanese team (or at least Michael Leitch, Tanaka and a few others. I'm wondering if they've given up that sponsorship.

The Ukon no Chikara (Power of Tumeric) one is supposedly even better for a hangover.

I wouldn't know because I can't keep anything down if the hangover is worth worrying about (you're meant to drink this before hitting I'm told, but who is that fucking organized?)

Given the lack of media attention for this, I imagine it's a very minor deal

Key thing the ABs won't be forced to drink gaterade (or their choice of liquid in a gaterade bottle) on the pitch now - fucking disgusting stuff
