All Blacks MOTM v Springboks II

@victor-meldrew Spot on

@victor-meldrew he can’t do everything. Where was our tight five, you know the engine room of the pack, and Jacobson?
-
@canefan but those stats can be misleading. First you get a bunch of ninnies who don’t understand the difference between an effective tackle and one will you just get your hands on someone. There’s a big difference between someone making a tackle, the opposition is stopped in their tracks or move backwards and someone grabbing onto someone’s ankles and they gain 10 m. I agree he missed that one tackle but our tight five and that Jacobson fella weren’t that good.

Wasn't criticising him. Think he's a really solid choice at 6 and going to get better and better - just think he's been below par these last 2 games
-
@victor-meldrew Fair enough and I was merely pointing out the supporting cast. I agree he still has some work ons but at least his name was being mentioned unlike the rest of the crew

I don't know what broke me more. Getting beaten up like that or BBs kick. What the fuck was that son? That's Quade Cooper 2011 shit. Good Christ. Luckily for him his replacement didn't do shit (surely that crash ball was not a called move -please God I hope not). But it doesn't help having a 12 who is not very good and has a stooped fucking haircut that even the Village people would call gay. Thankfully we had the only Barrett left worth a damn. Jordie is a genuine super star now. Pity about the rest of the team.
But whatever. This game was what we all dreaded would happen. Foster is just a younger, fatter downhill years Hanson
This. Nothing has changed. I've fully kissed off this RWC cycle. We'll win some spectacular games, play some awesome rugby. But when it comes down to the crunch we'll get monstered/choke.
Again.
Like versus lions, vs boks in 18/19, semi, Argentina last year, these 2 games.

I mean, yeah? Every game we lose, we are going to get outdone in the forwards. The reverse will be true for most of the games we win.

No real point singling out Akira Ioane alone, even though he was poke, they were all poke together.
I though S Barrett played ok.
Akira Ioane is just a part of the new powder puff forwards we have. A classic Flat Track bully, it appears.
We are definitely at that point with our forwards, just not tough enough. The NH tour will expose some of these boys to more grinding rugby, hopefully for the better

Jordie, Ardie, and Brad for me too. I assume some of Blackadders votes have carried over from last weeks match?
Proud of you for voting Jordie 2 weeks running
He’s played well, I’ve never disliked him just for being him. He used to do dippy stuff you Uberfans would overlook 😏, he hasn’t been doing that lately and was our best player so of course he got the vote.
Reece is the only guy who will never get a vote from me no matter how well he plays.

Akira was a step up from last week in handling, but didn't think he was that good today. Hopefully the last 2 games are just a bit of dip and don't show he has problems against bigger, more physical teams, because when he plays well, he's bloody awesome.
My original reason in wanting Akira to be in at 6 was precisely because I thought he would be invaluable against bigger physical teams with his power in close. I couldn't care less he scores magnificent tries against weaker sides. Blackadder was better than him in both games against the Boks.
Akira is no Kaino (so far)

did anyone watch Akira’s ball carries? He was playing ruck touch basically

Becoming a poach ab only cos his NH contact was cancelled due to him being a wife beater

Yeah whilst Akira did some good things (won a turnover with a ball strip, forced a turnover with defensive lineout pressure, some nice pieces of defence and good maul defence) - his real value is in his ball carrying - without that I think i'd rather look at Cane at 6. Cane showed some ball running ability last season - could use that.
The 8 jersey also remains up for grabs.
Agreed with Jordie, Weber and Ardie as the best 3. Reece 4th. Can't think of anyone for 5th (which sums it up).

I think the last 2 tests show that, when it comes to our back row mix against teams who are very proficient at the breakdown, it has to be an either / or between Ardie and Akira. Both can be effective ball runners, but neither is particularly bothered about securing our own ball on attack.
-
I'd be more interested in seeing our loose forwards play tighter against an opposition swamping us. Seeing loose forwards positioned for attacking ball which won't come while we can't go forward quick enough in the middle seems to me a waste of resources.
