Interesting comments by Foz about the bench and picking those who had played the Boks before.
Good conference. To me significant he name checked Sotutu's injury.

i dont mind it
I'm underwhelmed a bit but I don't know what I would change with no ALB. Can't argue with forwards though.
Whilst still a work in progress, Ioane is the second best centre in the squad, so he has to play there.
I would’ve gone for Reece on the wing, but can’t complain about the other two selected.
Will be interesting if one of our wingers has to go off, will they put Tups on and move Ioane or do they put DMac on and move Jordie. If it’s early in the game I reckon the latter because of experience.
Flakes did well against Boks when Hodge came on by having big boot to drive them back when kicking for territory.
So Jordie for me to stay at 15. I’d bring on Quinn.
I understand none of this post.
Flakes = Hodge
Cadbury flakes = wallabies
Term of 'endearment'!

I’m interested to know what the concern is with Papali’i not being available. Is there that much of a difference between Paps and Jacobsen? Ardie was always going to be selected given he is captain.
Boks picked Kwagga with Kolisi to start. Would have started Ardie at 8 on that basis. I rate Kwagga and Mostert best of SA loosies currently. Dalton would improve our speed to collision points to improve our continuity. Just hope our midfield and outside backs stay accurate under pressure so we don't get shut down by Kwagga Kolisi Am and de Allende.

Josh Adams in the order
Definitely. And I think he'll get better.

Let's not forget Henry Paul
No need to be cruel to our English friends.

ALB is a loss, but RI has looked better and more mature at 13 recently. Big responsibility for him, but an opportunity for him to step up and have a great game leadership-wise.
EDIT: Wonder if Reiko is in, or close to being part of, the AB leadership group?

I was also shocked to see Patty has 39 tests which might be an indication of our locking depth at the moment. He is a great player I just don't think he has ever quite made it at test level. I hope to be proven wrong this weekend.
He's the weakest selection in the 23 IMHO, but his best games seem to be when the team is under the pump, so here's hoping his experience comes to the fore.

Good team selection I think,Taking into account injuries etc.
The selection looks like it has been well thought out to combat the Boks usual game plan.So ya reckon Fozzie is secretly on holiday?
Maybe at fat club?
Careful. Some ferners get upset with constant Fozzie fat jokes. Not me though, keep em coming !
Been hanging out at KFC & McD's hoping for an interview, but he's been nowhere to be seen.

@kiwimurph I also found it interesting re: announcement of WR's guidelines on training time limits when he said it depends on what you consider "full contract" but the amount of time sounded right to him.

Full contract may have been Freudian slip about his position.

@arhs Mostert? it's like you didn't watch their last two tests. He's the best loosie in the world, out of all the loosies who can't move sideways.
Was still more effective in what he brought than Vermeulen and Kolisi. Maybe they will play better this week?

3 Barretts starting. Only second group of 3 brothers to be ABs?
@taniwharugby Good article this one, great writer.
I'm sorry, didn't check writer's name.
My beef with him isn't that he's not a good writer, he just chose to be a troll (and not sure he actually likes rugby union anyway).Started as the loigue writer iirc
Makes sense, he
triestried to write about league even in his union columns-actually I haven't read his articles for years, even if he is the only Welsh troll in the village... -

Jesus there some clueless comments here, not all of them, but these leapt out. More stuff to be up on the changing room walls 😜
This is not the same team that won the World Cup. Let's be very clear on that. They've lost a number of their players who have headed off overseas
SA freely pick from anywhere
And two years ago, they were playing a lot more open and expansive rugby than this team is showing us this year."
Obviously didn't watch the semi versus Wales
The fullback is fine; Willie le Roux is a very good player
Was
Is.
"Willie le Roux is a very good player"
“Willie le Roux was a very good player” he has been average for quite sometime
oh not arguing with that, I just couldn't find Mains saying that, he blamed the centre, props..
I'm missing your point, he said the Le Roux is not a problem as he is a very good player. Which is utter rubbish, he was def a problem versus the Wallabies - he was responsible for a lot of the stiffled attack
It is no biggie I thought you meant Mains said that and/or his article agreed with you.
I don't expect Le Roux remembers he once played running rugby. I'm not sure I ever thought he was a fantastic strategic kicker and when I saw him play years ago he did more damage as an unpredictable wing type than as a safe fullback type but a Bok supporter might well correct me. -
Why so much concern in the papers over loosies, when we should be more worried about props (well, not Moody) and the less experienced midfield?
Not about Bridge of course, I just read that he was athletic. That will be enough...hope JB is retained for kicking duties... -

Not about Bridge of course, I just read that he was athletic. That will be enough...hope JB is retained for kicking duties...The loss of Papali’i is big. The best tight loosie we have and would’ve been ideal for the physical Boks. The Boks have gone smaller with Kwagga Smith so potentially Papali’i’s loss won’t be as influential. Blackadder off the bench is fantastic.
Jacobson will need to play in tighter to allow Akira space in the outside channels.
Jordan/Bridge/Jordie are all competent fullbacks who are also v.good under high ball so will diffuse Pollard/De Klerk’s kicking game.

I agree, when Cane returns, AB #7 will be a hot topic.

It will be a problem selection, but a nice problem to have.
