@bones Yup, as I said somewhere not long ago, forget about Vaea Fifita, Francis Saili returning for the 2023 WC is where it's at!

Coles (when fit) will be the hooker joining the squad.

    After 2 weeks quarantine

I certainly wasn't implying he would be available immediately, just that they can't just bring over a new player to join the squad unless a MIQ spot in NZ is found for when they return. Foster might need to find a Kiwi hooker in Aust in an emergency.

I think in an emergency Coles stays in NZ, and hooker #5 joins ABs. Unless the theoretical kiwi hooker in Oz is in QLD or WA, they still have 2 weeks quarantine. That's the real challenge of this tour, juggling injury replacements.

    Am available

Thinking out loud about this concept (not necessarily my own availability, which would of course depend on agreeing suitable financial terms), if perchance our playing stocks are severely affected by injury and we can't get NZ based players to join do we open up to NZ eligible players based in Aus, and even in Europe when we get there, given the 'unprecedented' circumstances. One off situation only.

I.e., Thrush, Kahui, Abel here in Aus (I mean in desperate circumstances).

That assumes they are actually in Aus of course, and in a State where they could travel to QLD without 2 week quarantine. But the return home wouldn't require NZ MIQ spaces.

As I think about it it's probably more for the real specialist positions, where safety is a concern, i.e., front row. Anywhere else we'd just have to cover within the squad.

    Anyway, just spitballing.

Nope, Let's use what we have. It may force some loses if it gets bad, but I'd rather that than randomly call in people who will never play ABs again. Gives the B and Cs more chances. Gotta trust our squad, and if we lose a lot because we are scrapping the barrel, then that can be accepted. Better than bringing C and D graders who have no investment and no knowledge of team ethos/plans/etc.

This is outside of literally having to default, but I doubt we'll get there.

I did come to that conclusion as I was typing... with the possible exception of front row for safety issues.

But thinking, what NZ qualified players hanging around QLD/WA would it be safe enough to bring into the front row vs the Boks?

Yeah. I only thought of Robbie Abel. Again not sure if he is still in ACT, and even then there's roadblocks to get into QLD.

Article on the Wallabies ... I am not sure which Wayne Smith this is, but I agree with all of it

Left wanting: Why Wallabies need a new direction to cut out mistakes

On the face of it, the Wallabies keep making the same errors, but the link between four of the intercept tries they conceded this series may not be what you think.

Squinting, pulling a face and gang signs. Drop him immediately.

Bright coloured boots, drawing attention to himself as always.

And where’s the short back and sides?

@act-crusader I've heard through the grapevine that he used his right hand to poke the photographer (a 9yo fatally ill boy) in the eye after the shot was taken, still holding his boots, so he also kicked him in the face.

    Disgrace.

I heard he went out for a midnight Maccas run too despite promising SBW that he wouldn’t.

Is that the same grapevine that I heard Sonny Bill was right there to console the young kid. He also took his yeezy’s off and gave them to him.

All off camera too. Such a lovely guy is that Sonny.

@nostrildamus the criticism of the Australian tactics are fair... in the context of bled 1 and 2. In this game they they tried to play brumbie ball and it could even have worked but for Koriobete crawling, Lolesio missing that sitter and Lolesio missing touch following the red card.

The problem for this Australian side is basically that they are not very good.

They don't have the fire power to score quick tries so they need a whole bunch of things to go right to get points. This was demonstrated by Banks being run down quite easily by Reiko on that breakaway.

Their contact skills aren't great so they can't get quick ball or slow down the all black ball. They are not going turn over ball at the set piece.

I don't see how they fix any of that with tactics
