Yeah, I definitely think the media sat on this until the NZRU made a decision, and now it's a bigger story.
The Herald made a meal of it today. They ran the story in news headlines and an identical story in the sports pages a few pages later. Not the first time recently. Really plumbing the depths these days to fill up pages with so many rubbish opinion articles as well. That said the facts seem to be mounting against SF. But I would have thought that the responsible and pertinent headline would have been that NZRU has stood him down from the Bledisloe next week. But that would avoid the victim statement clickbait....

can we finally get rid of that oh so fucking smug "better people make better All Blacks" bullshit they still try to peddle.
because it's very fucking clear that the only thing that matters is how well you can play. and you know what, a part of me actually respects that.
I keep waiting for the time that people stop worshipping people who happen to be good at sport. It's never going to happen.
It was in place in Henry's era, its why they never looked at Hika Reid for example.
Ted also picked a Highlanders loose forward who had been before the courts on similar charges that were public.
Love Ted, but the no "no dickheads policy" is over egged. Who else was ever classified as a "dickhead" besides Hika (until injuries struck in 2010 and he ceased to be a dickhead for a couple of months)?
Weepu and Nonu managed to breach the Hurricanes no dickheads policy yet satisfy the All Blacks in the same season. Hore managed to be in the leadership group for the ABs and a dickhead at Super Rugby level simultaneously.

That headline would (should) lead to more discussion about how weak the punishment is, at least. It’s about 4-6 weeks off for punching in a game, but apparently only a week off for hitting a girl in a bar.
Plus of course, his need for support and nothing about loss of trust from the people who actually make sure the bills get paid.

Who judged them to be dickheads though?....The fern's favorite coach?

Has Foster and his team recently said that though?
Edit: Ok I saw the below and went, at least nepotism is alive and well.""It's been a tough time for him personally," Foster says.
"He's gone through a process, both with the courts and New Zealand. They've come up with a conclusion that, as far as we're concerned, he's shown a good attitude as [to] how he's dealt with that.
"I know he's incredibly remorseful for that, and it's not something that any of us want.
"We're just going to keep working with him, and support him. He's still a family member for us."

So what does the new schedule mean for Frizell?
His hearing is on September 21.
He can't pop back from Australia for a couple of days. Are court hearings still happening under lockdown? Can he be remote? Does he get special treatment and get the hearing delayed? Does he miss the tour?
-
it would be common sense to not take him, use his hearing as the reason to give him a break from the abs....will start

Pretty sure that many court hearings are postponed. Also reduces the risk of the virus getting into prisons which would be a nightmare to manage.
Maybe he's not allowed to leave the country?
Quite possible

See as he has been found wanting anyway, seems like a good opportunity to look at the northland ginger.
I've very uncomfortable with the lack of consequences he's facing for knocking out a woman's teeth. Assuming he gets diversion here from the courts.
At the very least the ABs should make it clear (can't believe I have to type this) that hitting woman is wrong.

Ah fuck this fluffybunny. Just like Sevu. I just wish our All Blacks wouldn't assault people. Fucking disgraceful. I'm fine with rehabilitation for people who do these things but people like this shouldn't be public figures and representing our nation.
have to say, when i was at uni in dunners most people that used their diversions did so for things like taking a piss somewhere a little too public or in one case nicking all the pool balls from a pub, maybe pinching a road sign...not so much fighting let alone hitting a woman
Flatmate of mine got diversion, but the summary of facts was a great read. He was arrested in town after an Otago v Canterbury rugby game for offensive behaviour or similar for pulling a brown eye in the street. The SoF went something like: "Mr (Smudge's flatmate) then proceeded to drop his trousers and bend over, part his cheeks and say "kiss this, Canterbury".

You mean the one who whose case didn't even go to trial because the evidence didn't stack up?

An anus horribilis?
