A big crowd last week and a small one this week. The lesson is moving a Test at short notice and playing the same team back to back has an effect on demand.

I was expecting some specials late in the week though

One other issue is Test allocation. I go to almost all 1st class rugby matches at Eden Park since I returned to NZ in 2013. I've seen the Boks once in that time (2013). If there 's one team that's over exposed in this area its the Wallabies

    nailed it. Are you going?

surprised there aren't some 'family' specials later on - $200+ is a lot for a casual fan to go. Also, adults start at 14 now for the ABs... which gets even pricier.

    @nzzp

I'm going but I have a ground membership. So this is like a 'free' extra game

And many areas on the sides don't offer junior prices anyway, from what I could see.

@duluth would this be the norm if we had a 'national stadium' as proposed several years ago?

Agree with everything else that you said - but the lesson to me is - if you do this, play it at a time that is more accessible to people from out of town, families, kids, enable school groups to go, etc. The people that didn't go last week because it was a different demographic.

Late change of date/venue makes this a bit different. If all big matches were moved to EP you'd have travel packages etc and people making plans weeks out etc

Yes, and why they should have done things differently to get a crowd.

Geez - do posters realise it is a 23 player game these days and the All Blacks learned over a decade ago that a lack of a plan B at RWC could have them out. Fern posters have gone on and on about not having plan B's too,

So, the current coaches are addressing this by training for scenarios where they lose a key player through injury or a card early, and making sure that the players slotting into another position can do so relatively seamlessly. Seems intelligent to me and a big tick for this regime. You can only have 8 on the bench. I have assumed that Jordie is seen as potential cover at 12 this week, else they would have most likely promoted Quinn Tupaea. There will be a planned scenario for the loss of any player.

The AB's will likely have a pecking order of 4 players minimum for any jersey number, and will do their best to build experience of each of those candidates in that jersey within the RWC leadup campaign. I see nothing wrong with that, and am happy for us not to be winning by 50 points with out best 15 playing 80 minutes every week, if we are progressing forward our troops for the RWC battle. Then, they will pick the best 23 players to deal with whatever the opposition are expected to throw at them that week, and will continue their admirable philosophy (big tick for current regime) of not picking players who are injured, but seeing it as an opportunity to further develop an understudy in preparation for what may come.

All these posts wanting Foster to be dumped for not keeping players in their preferred jersey number at all times would seem to based on nasty agendas and not on reason....

Except they're not doing this. They're picking Jordie Barrett because he deserves to be picked as a fullback on form, but then they also have to pick Beauden, McKenzie and Mo'unga, and Jordan. So then they're playing him on the wing because he 'deserves' a spot. The bench balance is fucked with 2 Barretts there.
The boks with 6 forwards on the bench in the WC were seeing it as a 23 man game, our dullards are not.

Unfortunately you won’t get the Aussie TV audience at 12:30 pm on a Saturday afternoon.

Do we get them live anyway? And at 5:30?

Yeah, at least that is pub o’clock for most Aussies.

Now rugby is on Stan you would be hard pressed to find a pub showing it.

Shouldn't that not matter as it has to be carried on FTA? Or do you reckon most pubs are locked into those deals for satellite tv (the one that the racing guy, also head of NRL, totally had nothing whatsoever to do with Stan being blocked from).

@crazy-horse Stan has no pub/club deal available yet AFAIK. So yeah, technically a pub streaming it is breaching the user agreement.

They can. The ads are a bad look IMHO.

The sooner they sort that out, the better. Good thing in Sydney we'll be locked down until the Spring Tours 😉

I forgot about free to air! I really ought to reacquaint myself with the people in the cheap seats.

But, I haven't seen rugby on at a pub since it went to Stan, free to air or not.

I hate watching rugby at the pub, I like sitting my fat ass down right infront of my big tv and not have anyone jibber jabbing around me. I'm antisocial as fuck when watching rugby.

Same. Other people just annoy me. But when I am away I don't really have a choice.
